  1. sounds like something has gone wrong in the harddrive, if you do a SYSTEM RECOVERY with the disks you got with the laptop when you bought it, it should fix it.

if you do not have the disks, they should be available from acer - just type in the computers model number and they should have them. download it and burn it onto a cd

EITHER WAY  boot the laptop with it and it will do the rest.

  2. do you have another Battery ,looks like you loose power on and off,bad hard drive can caus it too,try to put Installation CD or Recovery CD in it and start it see if power stays on,,,,

  3. I would send it back to the supplier, Mine did that before and it had a virus, but it could be a different thing.

    Ben

  4. Sounds like it's shutting down to avoid overheating.

About the guy below me's post... it can't be a virus, because then it would at least work in safe mode.

  5. If it's a new computer, it has a recovery partition,

    1. you need to connect the laptop to the ac adapter (power cord) and press the power button

    2. start tapping F11 or F9 or F6 ( it depends on the computer manufacturer)

    3. You will get a message like: Windows is loading files, or Recovery manager has been started, or Attention you're about to use the recovery partion (It depends on the computer manufacturer)

    4. Once you are there you should select: Destructive recovery, or New installation of operating system, or Reinstall operating system, etc (It also depends on the laptop manufacturer)

5 You won't need any disks for the operating system nor for the drivers cause they all will be reinstalled (it takes like 1 hour or 2 hours, it depends on the computer manufacturer too)

Note If something happens in the middle of the reinstallation of the operating system like it stops or if laptop is still having the same issue after this, then you need to run a hard disk drive self test to check if the hard disk drive isn't damage. To do the hard disk drive self test you need to get into the BIOS

    1. laptop is off and pluged to the power cord and you press the power button

    2. start tapping F10, F10 or F2 ( depending on the manufacturer)

    3. Once inside the BIOS choose diagnostics, tools (depends on the manufacturer) and run the test

Hey INDEED run the hard disk drive self test FIRST, because if that hard drive is already a piece of garbage, you can save the time of reinstalling the whole operating system!!
