What is wrong with my neon tetra?

i've had my tank for over fourty days now and one of my neon tetras is acting weird. it wobbles all over the tank upside down and is breathing every once in a while. all of my other fish seem fine. i have another 6 neon tetras and two zebra fish. they are in a ten gallon tank that is planted with a variety of plants. the sick noen tetra is very pale. what is worng with it???

  1. Check (and fix) your water chemistry or temperature right away!

    He may just have succumb to a bad chemical or water condition because he was the weakest of the bunch. If you do not take measures soon, these conditions often get worse very quickly and effect even your healthier fish as well.

  2. It may be old and sick.

  3. How old is this fish?

    I'd quarantine it in case it picked something up. You just can't save some of your fish.

  4. It has swim bladder disorder and it may have a parasitic infestation.
