What is wrong with my peppers? What disease is this?

I am growing an heirloom pepper in a pot and the plant was doing fabulously. Then all of a sudden, the 2 larger peppers developed these brown rotted spots. This is the 3rd pepper, and now it has developed the same brown rotted spot. The plant itself is doing great and just put out new flowers. Please help ID this disease, and recommend a solution.

  1. It could be a soil that is to acidic that is causing his problem.I would purchase one of the products for blossom end rot that is a form of calcium that is readily absorbed by the leaves when sprayed on. A soil  pH test is needed before adding sulphur or lime. You can  obtain a soil test kit from your county extension service, or buy a home test kit, which is sufficient to test pH. Peppers prefer a mildly acidic soil in the 6.0-6.5 range for optimum growth.Water could be a problem, but it would affect the overall appearance and growth of the plant because roots are dying from root rot disease.

  2. Blossom rot can also be from overwatering

  3. It looks like the pepper has blossom end rot.  It is caused by an inability of the plant to absorb calcium.  Add some sulphur to your soil and this should fix the problem.

  4. Peppers do better in the ground in rich deep soil with consistant deep watering. Have a look at this website it has the info you need to id your problem.
