I have a 2000 kawasaki ke100. If you roll or ride foward, the speedo skips clockwise and like at 10mph, it will rool past 60mph and keep spinning until it gets back to zero. if i roll backwards, it goes back to zero and stops. What is the deal?

  1. Sounds like the clock spring inside has either broken or the retaining pin has come loose, letting the needle spin like a propeller.  Or one other possibility could be that the bearings on the needle are worn and loose, letting the cup contact the magnet.

If the former is the problem, if you can get the thing apart, you can probably fix it but it will require recalibrating it.  If the latter, it's still repairable, but either way, it might be cheaper and easier to check salvage yards for a used one.
