What is wrong with qantas?

... Six Dramas? The first one quite serious... and the sixth one I've just heard about now? Whats up with stupid qantas?

I can tell anyone that in the next few years, I'm not flying qantas... what's up? Give me your opinions, and the most reasonable answer will get 10 points... :)

Olivia - you aren't the only one who is frustrated and angry at airlines' current behaviour.  Sadly it is going to get worse.

I work as a travel writer and have got so disgusted with airlines that I have reduced my workload to only take in countries I can access by train (I am lucky to live near Eurostar), and take very few flights now.

In part it our fault that airlines are so bad.  We demand cheap, cheap flights - so something has to give.  Airlines won't admit this, but they calculate a percentage of passengers are going to complain, and make allowance for this.  They will use every trick in the book not to pay compensation, and although rules are getting stricter, there are still some loopholes.

What every travellers needs to do is to complain politely but firmly.  Faced with consistent, sensibly worded letters, eventually an airline will decide it has to rectify the situation - then it starts up something else.

They are trying to drive us to upgrade - where they make sensible profits - but even in Business and First Class sections there are problems.

Even trains have their faults for holiday travel - unfortunately it is all part of modern day life.  However, if you can grab a copy read the Airline Passengers' Guerilla Handbook.  I found this very funny, and it had lots of tips - but don't know if it is still in print.
