Consider this. Companies are out to make a profit. Their shareholders demand it. So if we were to tax them heavily whom would they pass the increased cost on to?

You the consumer.

So reconsider that idea. If we tax them will the cost for gasoline go up or down?

If the big oil companies are hit with a mega tax, you'll be

hit with mega gas prices at the pump...you don't think the companies are going to aborb such a l**k without passing on to you do you?  If you think you are paying too much now, wait til you catch up with the rest of the world in gas prices...then

you'll really have something to gripe about.  That is exactly what will happen when these taxes are levied against the oil

companies!

So you want to sue OPEC, and you think that would lower Oil prices?

Maybe we should sue the government for taxing the oil companies. They make more then the oil companies do.

And what gives them the right to take money just so they can redistribute it.

AS for what is wrong with the Republicans, what the h**l is wrong with the democrats that seem to refuse any drilling or building refineries, or building nuke plants. Seems to me they want us in the dark with no money.

What's wrong you liberal Democrats is the question?! This is only the 4th or 5th question I've read about this tonight. I'll say it again since you probably never heard of a guy called Jimmy Carter or that he tried exactly the same tactic to get the price of oil down in the 70s and you know what happened? Not only didn't the price go down but there wasn't any. See, oil execs are smart people who know that they can a) pass the loss onto the consumer, like every other guy who sells something and b) can stop the production of oil any time they want. But, hey, when Democrats fail the first time, they wait a while, and then bring it back again to do the same thing because, gosh, maybe the oil execs got stupid through the years and no one will really remember that we tried it before, right, cause the people are not nearly as smart as we are." Wrong. Could you spread it around so that we don't have to keep explaining this to you?

THEY DO! That is the true reason we are in the middle east NOT to stop terrorism but to get oil that is also why gas prices are so high republicans are buddies with the oil people. Face some of the republicans are corrupt. Democrats always selfdestruct them selves that is why i am independent.
