What is x in this? clueless, never seen this before 2x/9= -65?

looking at child's homeschool work and never seen this with my studies. course that was years ago too.

2x= -65X9

2x= -585

x= -585/2

x= -292.5

the you just half your answer

it would be = 292.5

think of it as  (2/9)X = -65

to isolate "X"...multiply both sides by (9/2)

x = -65(9/2)  (65*9) /2
