What is you childs favourite toy and how old is he/she?

Hi,

I work for an afterschool care centre and we are getting new toys for our centre and I was just wondering what some good ideas would be to give to my boss.

I am pretty ok with boys stuff cause I have a boy of my own so I know what boys are all into but what about girls????

Also what are some great games and activites we could do with them to stop them getting bored? We do have heaps but I feel the children are getting bored with the ones we have as they play them all the time.

What is your childs favourite toy or toys game or activity and how old is that child?

Time for some new ideas I think.

I use to work at a daycare. I found that for girls and boys alike the most used centers were the blocks, the dress up center, and the kitchen/store center.

The block center- all diffenrent kinds of wooden blocks, wooden vehicles, small people, wooden street signs, a townscape rug with streets and building on it ( can be found at Home Depot).

The dress up center- old clothes, costume jewlery, hats, shoes, purses, bags, other types of props like a badges and clipsboards.

The kitchen center- wooden kitchen pieces, dishes, play food, a shopping cart, a store stand, play money, appliances, aprons.

We rotated our games each month also to keep the kids interested. We pulled them all at the beggining of each term and seperated them out per classroom and would then rotate to our next door neighbors each month.

Noise and Sound books.  He has a pillow on the floor, and in the middle of runnin around, he'll grab one of his books, and sit down on his pillow and just play w/ it... He loves being read to.

Sadly, my 12 yr olds sons favorite toy is a Nintendo DS, and a good book.  We also make sure he has scratch paper & a pencil to draw.

it is a care bear she likes the light in the middle and the music it plays. and she is 10 months old

8 year old boy- cars, drawing, playing cards & football

4 year old girl- blocks, candy land, easy craft projects, cars & coloring.

infant girl- anything that shines or is bright.. lol

I don't have kids but my little sister used to love the fake food - you can play store and restaurant and house and all that with it. It's really cheap too.

my 4 year old is completely in love with floor puzzles--the kind that are made of maybe 25-35 huge pieces that are so big when they are put together you need to do it on the floor. she cannot get enough of them! Melissa and Doug is one manuafactuer, and there are endless designs. she loves the sense of accomplishment, and has even more fun when her little friends help her put it together.
