What is you favorite type of fresh water fish to catch?

They are all fun to catch, but if I could only catch one type for fun I would pick Small mouth Bass they are very aggressive, and fight hard.

CRAPPIE i love CRAPPIE.they are so fun on an ultralight

with 4-6lb mono,they are a ball to catch and taste AMAZING i love crappie. bluegill are fun too. but crappie is the best,white bass is fun.

Trout, either rainbows or brown trout, on a fly, i also used to fish for catfish and alligator gar when i was ALLOT younger, lol, i also like to fish for salmon and steelhead, my preference being salmon, on a fly rod, spey casting is great fun, when i get the chance i like to fish for tarpon and bone fish, but its not that often.

well were i live the fishing is good all season so i like to catch trout. my favorite are hybrid rainbows. i also fish for bass,walleye,pike and carp in north dakota. but my favorite fish to catch are trout they are good eating, and challenging to catch. hope this was cool. happy fishing!!!!!! :  )

For me it's the Mayan Cichlid, also known as the," Atomic Perch, Fresh water Snapper and Strawberries." These fish get up to 5 pounds and are available just about year round. They fight hard but are easily caught with worms, lures and flies.  They taste great grilled, fried or baked and if you're feeling " Iron chef, " you can use them in many recipes that require fish. That's my favorite in my neck of the woods, something different and not the norm but never excluded.~good luck catchin'.

If you're going to eat them - I love brook trout

For a good fight - bronze backs...aka smallmouth bass - they love crayfish and alot of other things but they love a good fight.

In early spring I like fishing with a spinning rod and using a size 2 hook and rigging a live crawler like a plastic one and fishing structure near shorelines (from shore) it's early enough not to worry about the bluegill smacking it - but if you fish it right chain pickeral or a big northern pike are great fighters - fresh water sharks tearing up shiners or anything else moving that looks interesting to them... unfortunately we don't have too many of them in Virginia.

Personally I like the peace and quiet of carp fishing.I'm all catch and release and carp offer a nice quiet setting with a good fight to boot.But I do fish for LM bass a fair amount of time too.

Yeah, I like the Mayan cichlid too, but not to eat.

I haven't caught a Butterfly Peacock Bass yet, but I hear they are my next favorite catching fish next to the catfish, which I do eat.

smallies then large mouth and if they are not biting then I will take a carp just put one on that has some fight to it that is where the fun is.

Walleye, Catfish, and Northern Pike. It's a tie between the 3. They're all very fun to catch. Pike are like monsters on a hook. I don't like fishing for Bass much. Good luck and good fishing!

blue, channel and flathead catfish, and stripers. when stripers are busting topwater, there is almost nothing more fun
