  1. I just want to point out that Silk is owned by Dean Foods which is the biggest dairy company in the US. You might as well be buying milk if you buy Silk soymilk.

My favorite is Pacific brand Oat Milk. I love the taste and I also like that Pacific is one of the few companies not owned by a huge meat or dairy company.

  2. Soy and Almond are my favs!

    Smooches;)

  3. Silk Plus Omega3 DHA soymilk is my favorite.

My dad likes it so much that he's switched from cow's milk to soymilk!

EDIT: Soy is very healthy as a whole food. It's not clear whether soy is healthy in pill and powder forms. The FDA says a daily diet containing 25 grams of soy protein may reduce the risk of heart disease.

  4. coconut milk

  5. You should know that soy depresses thyroid levels, modifies estrogen, and is allergenic for some people.  As early as the 1960's, doctors saw that soy formula depressed thyroid levels in babies.  Google "soy dangerous" and see for yourself.

But I think everything in moderation is usually OK.

    I prefer rice milk.

  6. Soya milks great!

They do a vegan chocolate, banana and strawberry soya milk which is lovely.

These two sites do them, and they're available in supermarkets and health stores.

  7. I really prefer Almond Breeze Unsweetened Vanilla, it's almond milk and it's very low calorie (about 45 calories a cup - compare that to 90 calories for the lowest calorie soy milk I've found). I don't feel guilty using it in everything from chai tea to oatmeal. It's delicious, with a thin consistency that is more similar to animal milk.

Soy milk is great too, I don't drink a lot of it though because the consistency often feels thicker than cow's milk (which despite being vegan, I still compare milks to, since it's what I was raised on) and - for me anyway - both the consistency and the flavor are very noticeable in soy milk. Meanwhile, if you add almond milk to a sweet cereal or a chai tea, you don't even taste the mild almond undertones. It's a very easy milk to use if you're transitioning off of cow's milk.

  8. By far a product called Soy Silk (vanilla) tastes the best though it is good for your health to alternate between the various types (i.e. oat, soy, hemp, almond, hazelnut, multi-grain and rice).

  9. I'm a big fan of Alpro soya milk - very good! But it's really a matter of finding which one you like - they all taste different, even between different brands of the same type of milk - e.g. soya or oatmilk.

    Enjoy the tastings!

  10. I have enjoyed almond milk best. I generally take soy milk, though, as the brands of soy milk I find have less sugar and more nutrition in them than almond milk. I now prefer Silk SoyMilk best, mainly for nutrition but also for taste with cereal (the plain or vanilla) or all by itself (chocolate).

  11. I think soy milk is yuck for drinking. I can only barely tolerate it when I buy the chocolate soy milk, which I never do, but I have.

I can, on the other hand, drink rice milk straight from the container. I've never had any other milks.

  12. I was never a milk drinker so I don't have any desire to drink plant milks now.  Instead, I use them the same way I used to use dairy milk: for cooking and baking.  I usually buy soy, but I've also used almond (which makes delicious oatmeal, by the way.)

I do like the peppermint chocolate soymilk that comes out at the holidays; it's about the only time I pour "milk" into a glass and drink it.
