What is your career?

Why did you choose it?

How much money does a person in your field make on an yearly average?

How many year did you go to college for it?

Im about to be a senior in High School starting in August and I am still wondering what i want to do with my life...

And i was just seeing what kind of careers do ya'll have and why ya'll love it, if you even do love it?

Or... if you are still a teen, what do YOU want to become?

And why? How much will you make? How many years of college... and so on....

  1. I am a stay at home mum, pregnant and a student at the moment. The career I want and am studying towards is in marketing, not direct marketing, I am interested in consumer behaviour and branding. I am also interested in business and would like my own business in the future.

I chose it because when we had our daughter we were tight for money and I started a business on the internet and that is how I learned that I am interested in that kind of thing. I only discovered this interest last year and I am now 23! I have been trying to think of what I want to do since I was 15!

I don't know how much money I could make in the future, I am guessing if I work for someone else that I will earn less than my partner (he is an engineer with a double degree, I know he will always make more than enough for us), and if I work for myself then it's up to me.

My degree is 3 years full time.

Don't stress if you dont know what you want to do yet, I have changed my mind so many times before finally finding something that makes sense to me, before this I felt neutral about everything, like 'yeah I could do that, but I'm not really fussed'. I know lots of people who have only realised later on, I dont know why they expect us to know who we are when we are in high school.

    Good luck : )

  2. i want to hopefully go into pharmacy or nursing when i grow up. i'm leaning toward being a pharmacist, though.

i like helping people, and science/medicine interests me.

    between $96,000 and $103,000.

it will take me about 6 years of college. =)

  3. I'm going to be a Pharmacist, I think it is 6 years of college and i think they make more than 90,000 annually. I am going to be a Pharmacist because it is a way to help people that I would enjoy.

Maybe a drug researcher, because I would like that aspect of pharmocology as well

  4. Ever since I was three i have wanted to become a cosmetologist. lol ive been playing with hair for as long as i can remember and i have been doing my own since i was five. So thats what I want to be. I want to go a really nice place in downtown over here. I think it takes two years? And the income all depends on what kind of a salon your in. But i plan on being in a good one :) I just dont know when I will be doing it. I recently got pregnant so we'll see when i can get started. :)

I hope you look into cosmetology though. Its will be so fun !

  5. I'm a teen and i want to become a physical therapist.Mainly because I like to help people and have had some experience with helping my handicapped grandparents. It depends on the degree you get you can make 40,000-100,000.It can be 4 or more years of college.

  6. Psychologist-Psychiatrist

  7. i want to be a psychologist/psychiatrist.

because i want to understand how your mind works.

and i want to help myself.

  8. I'm a full-time stay-at-home mother and wife.

It was something I never thought I'd want to do, but after having children, knew immediately that it was what I really wanted.

Zero dollars, but the reward is greater than any monetary amount.

No college required, but I did take 2 years college for nursing.  Worked in the medical field for 4 years before having the opportunity to stay home full-time.

Prior to becoming a mother, I worked in a nursing home caring for the elderly.  I never thought I'd enjoy it and actually dreading doing an internship at a nursing home while in LPN school.  However, my first job was in a nursing home and I just fell in love with it.  I went to LPN school for one year (it was a one year vocational program) and went to school for another year to further my education.  Just taking medical related classes here and there.  I made decent money, but its a well-known fact that nurses don't make as much as they deserve.  lol  I made less than $40,000 a year.  I can't remember exactly how much, but I remember it was in the $30,000's somewhere.  Once my children are out of elementary, I plan on returning to the medical field.  I'd really love to work in the ER.  I loved working the ER during an internship during school.

  9. I want to do something with drawing...  I'm still deciding between comics and animation.

  10. #1.) I'm planning on being an ultrasonographer.

#2.) because i love children and would like to be able to help the parents see if there's anything wrong with their developing child.

#3.) depends! working on a physician's office an average is $50,390 but being employed by a hospital its about $47,530!!

    #4.) hm I'd say about 4 to 5years

well i need a bachelor's degree with certificate and experience so I'll more than likely apply at Sand-ford Brown Institute so yeah!

  11. Astronomer

I choose it because I love Astronomy ever since 5th grade. It's just sooo fasinating and interesting for me.

I know, it's at least 70,000+ when you start working for a while.

About 10 years of college =(

    orrr.... I might be into

Business or Interior/House Design. So there's still a very hard decision for me to decide once I'm a senior. I'm in 10th btw.

You could make a list of what you want to become and research them little by little then eliminate which ones you don't want. That's what I did. Choose something that you would consider doing for the rest of your life. Make sure that you're comfortable with the salary, working conditions, locations and everything else. Good Luck! =)

  12. Hmm... What do I want to be when I grow up? I'm not sure yet, but here are the degrees I am thinking about, then I will choose one of them. I definitely do know that I want to do something creative, because that's what I love.

Graphic design degree: BA (Honours) Graphic Design. 3 years at university minimum. Lead onto working in advertising or for a magazine. Earn approximately between: $22 000 and $56 000.

Directing degree: BA (Honours) Directing. 3 years at university minimum. Lead onto directing film, television or music videos. Salary varies. Not much unless you are outstanding.

Fashion Journalism degree: BA (Honours) Fashion Journalism (Print, Broadcast). 3 years at university minimum. Lead onto writing for various papers, magazines etc. I would specify in fashion journalism. Earn approximately between $19 000 and $45 000.

Photography degree: BA (Honours) Photography. 3 years at university minimum. I would go into fashion photography. Salary varies and depends on how successful you are. Not much unless you are great.

If all else fails I guess I can just become a secondary school teacher. I would teach English, but it definitely wouldn't be my dream job.

I have decided on two universities to apply at so far. The Auckland University of Technology (New Zealand) and the University of the Arts London (England).

Specific colleges at the University of the Arts London I will be applying at are:

    . London College of Communication

    . Wimbledon College of Art

    . Camberwell College of Arts

. Central Saint Martin's College of Art and Design

    . London College of Fashion

. Chelsea College of Art and Design

The Auckland University of Technology doesn't have specific colleges, just different departments.

I'm 15 and have 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 more years of school left. But as my subjects get more and more specific and limiting I need to decide what I want to do fairly soon. I'm trying to keep my options varied and bored, but I'm taking more and more arty options, so I'm going to go down the creative path.

Next year for my subjects I am going to take: English, Calculus, Biology, Graphics, Design or Photography, History and Religious Education (compulsory =[ ).

When it comes to careers, I'm not really motivated by money. I just want to do something I love.

  13. I want to be a high school history teacher, I'm not exactly sure how much a history teacher makes but I know it's not much :( but making a ton of money isn't to important to me. As long as i can afford to live comfortably I'll be happy.

  14. I am in college taking psychology, but  my masters will be in elementary education. I ultimately want to be an elementary school teacher. I am thinking about going for a doctorate in school administration eventually though so that I can work in the highschool. I chose it because I really like working with little kids and teaching. I will go to school for 6 years to get my bachelors and masters. A teacher can make between $20,000 and $60,000 depending on location, level of knowledge, and the type of school.

  15. Career I want: Social Services, for adoption.

Why do I want it: I want to save kids from getting abused, and staying in dangerous homes. I don't want anyone to be hurt. I love kids.

Money I will make: I'm not sure.

How many years I am going to go for college: Four.

  16. when i was growing up i always wanted to be a teacher.

now I want to be a youth minister or preacher - i don't have my masters of divinity...i have my B.A. (what you get when you graduate from college).

I chose it because I felt that is what God wanted me to do with my life, money depends on where one lives, and the size of the congregation and if they are a missionary or not.  30,000 - 100,000

schooling can be 4-8 years depending on what you study.

    this is my advice.

if you have some ideas on what you are interested in, take a couple classes in those areas when you go to college or research them more...go to a college that offers all of those fields as well.

take most of your gen ed courses until you figure out what you want to do and then focus on your major.  It isn't uncommon for people to go to college and not have a major it is also very common for people to change their major once or twice.

  17. Well, i want to be a doctor that studdies the development of babies in the womb.  And how to cure diseases before the baby is born, stuff like that.

I chose it because i wanted a career where i really have to think, and you get to make a difference and when you do it changes lives.  The feeling of doing something that makes a huge difference on a persons life is amazing!

Depending on where i work, anywhere from 50,000 to 350,000 dollars a year.   HUGE DIFFERENCE!!!!!!!

For collage, it will, if im not mistaken take 10 years to get all of the degrees and stuff needed.

And you should do something that intrests you most, are you creative, social, mathmatic??? A good writer??  There endless oportunities out there so set a goal and go for it!!!

    =]

  18. I want to be a pediatrician or a nurse practitioner.

I also wanted to be an ER doctor, but found out that the hours are horrible and I still want a family.

I also kind of want to be the doctor that takes care of the babies after they are born or helps the women give birth, but I'm not sure about the hours of those either.

I have also considered being a pharmacist because it seems easy, good hours, big pay

My friend wants to be the nurse that takes care of the premature babies (i think its called a prenatal nurse) if that helps

    good luck!

  19. i actually just graduated from law school in may but i am pregnant and planning on staying home as long as i need/want to and then try to get a job at a law firm i went to to college for 7 years, ive just always wanted to be a lawyer i dont really know why

  20. Well during high school, I plan on being a barista--basically make coffee--until I have enough money to put myself through beauty school while in college. While I'm in college I plan on majoring in some field that will either result in me being a psychologist or some type of scientist, some type of artist--including writing and performing arts, or a lawyer.

In short I wanna be a barista, cosmetologist, psychologist, lawyer or artist. As for why,, being a barista sounds like fun; cosmetology is basically in my genes lol and i like doing hair; i'm very interested in mental health and other sciences, and i have a passion for the arts.

And I'm gonna be in college, for many years lol. Well at least 4.

  21. i want to be a lawyer. i wanna go to college for about 5 years.

i want to go to harvard

Private practice starting salaries vary GREATLY by city and size of the firm. Cities such as New York and Washington tend to pay top dollar. Large firms in these markets are starting first year associates out at $160,000/year. Large firms in secondary markets such as Cleveland, Denver, and Minneapolis are starting their associates out at around $120,000. As a general rule, the smaller the firm in the smaller the city, the less your starting salary will be. For example firms in my hometown of 200,000 are starting their first year associates at around $70-$75,000. I have even heard of some firms paying as low as $35,000 to their first year associates.
