The doctor gave me a prescription today for Clomid to take days 5-9 along with my 1500mg of Metformin. I don't really know anyone that has taken Clomid before and was wondering what your experience with it was...

Thanks for your stories in advance!!

  1. Hi,

I was put on Clomid by my doctor too on day 5-9 but I didn't take any Metformin. I was not ovulating on my own after a miscarriage last year. My first round was 50mg, 2nd round was 100mg and they thought I was not reacting to the drug so I decide to try it for the last time with the dose go up to 150mg, on the third try it was very different my bbs was sore the whole time so I have a feeling that I was ovulating thanks to the drugs. And sure enough on the 21 of that month after taking my blood for the doctor office, my nurse call back and said that I did ovulate and just have to wait until 2 more weeks to test. And to my surprise I got my positive later that month. Clomid react differently with everyone, so hang in there this drug really work. I am now 10weeks 4days pregnant, and the baby was healthy on the ultrasound.  so Good luck to you with your pregnancy journey.

  2. I don't know about Metformin but I took clomid several times.  It gave me hot flashes but other than that I didn't have any of the side effects that I'd read were possible (mood swings, etc.)  After a while, the clomid started to give me ovarian cysts so I'd be on clomid for 1 cycle than have to go on the pill for a month to clear up the cysts.  That was frustrating, to say the least, but I don't know how common it is.  The good news is I have a healthy 2 year old daughter through IVF and am currently 11 weeks pregnant with a natural miracle!  Hang in there.

  3. Went on clomid 50 mg, then 100 mg the next month as my progesterone levels were low.  The hot flashes were horrid, but no other symptoms.  Another month at 100 mg and pregnant.  Unfortunately miscarried because of low progesterone.  Went back on clomid after 3 months at 50 mg and pregnant the first month.  Dr. put me on progesterone and we are now expecting our little boy next week.  Note....  progesterone levels can be deceiving...  took blood test and they told me that I could not be pregnant as prog was only 3, but they were wrong!

  4. I wasn't ovulating for whatever reason, so my doctor had me take clomid on days 3-7, I think, then have s*x on days 10-17 (which we actually did more like 9-19, everyday).  I got pregnant on the lowest dose after the first try, I think around day 18.
