  1. Tobago

  2. My favorite island for relaxing is St John USVI. You can find a nice quiet beach out of the 39 pristine beaches on St John. The Coral Bay side is much quieter than the Cruz Bay side. The island is 2/3 rds National Park. You do have 2 large resorts on island. The Westin and Caneel Bay resort. They aren't big high risers. They are spread out over acres of land.  No big high rise hotels lining the beaches of St John.

Our favorite beach is Francis Bay. We snorkeled with the turtles and beautiful colorful fish. Good exercise and very relaxing time.

What I love about St John is it's a wonderful place to explore. You have some ruins, great nature walks and hiking trails and just over all beauty. You can enjoy stunning views. You are a short ferry ride to St Thomas or the British Virgin Islands.

There are plenty of B&B lodging places. Many visitors rent houses/villas especially if you are traveling with family.

No passport is needed for St John and that's a plus for some travelers.

Good Luck and enjoy your time in the Caribbean.)

  3. Puerto Rico!!!

  4. Aruba

  5. Tobago is beautiful.  its a lot quieter than its larger sister island of Trinidad.  its laid back, the perfect place for rest and relaxation.  you can laze on the beaches, go out on the reef.  swim in the nylon pool. go bird watching. or hiking up to argyle falls.

hotels and guest houses are mainly located on the beach so you have the choise of spending the day on the beach or by the pool.

Tobago is so quiet that some international flights go there once a week.  actually, you can land in Tobago and walk to the beach....Store Bay is less than 5 minutes away.

  6. I would say St John.  I just went there in October and it is great.  It is so laid back.  You can do your own thing, there are very few hotels, plenty to do.  They have shopping but it is not overcrowded with stores.  The people are great there and almost everywhere you look is just beautiful.  I recommend this website.  www.gotostjohn.com

  7. I agree about St. John.  There are also two ecologically sound "campgrounds" there: Maho Bay and Cinnamon Bay [they have websites].  You stay in platform tents with a campstove, etc, but they also have meal plans.

If you want something less rustic, check the offerings at Homeaway.com for a list of condos/apts for rent.

The islands off Belize would also be a good choice, though they're probably harder to get to than USVI.  Roatan [Honduras] might be another choice.

Dominica is gorgeous, but it's not known for its beaches and doesn't have a lot of the "tourist" infrastructure - it's a very small island and is also harder [more expensive] to get to.

[I'm talking about Dominica, not the Dominican Republic.]

There are websites for all the islands, as well as these:  vinow.com and caribbeanonline.com.  Or check for Caribbean guidebooks at your library or at Fodor's or Frommer's online.

Since you're talking about going at the end of the summer, you may want to consider trip insurance, since that's hurrican season.  [insuremytrip.com]

Hope you find just the right place for you!!

  8. Tobago is great. It is cool and laid back with friendly people. You can visit the Buccoo Reef and the Nylon Pool. There are island tours that can take you hiking, bird watching, diving and snorklinging. or you can just relax at a hotel or guest house

  9. Trinidad and Tobago are awesome!

  10. I loved St. Marteen

  11. Dominican Republic!!!!

  12. Dominica-(n.b not the spanish speaking Dominican Republic).

It is small it is NOT overcommercialised nor overcrowded with tourists. There are no large nor 5-star hotels on island. Because of its prestine beauty and verdant forests the island focuses on ecotoursm, therefore small scale eco resorts and villas nestled on quiet mountain tops, valleys and near rives are prevalent on the country offering authentic service and tranquilty.(quality not quantity)

Most likely you havent heard of this island but it was the main island in which pirates of the caribbean 2&3 were filmed...the beautiful green towering mountains and black sand beaches..thats Dominica...the links below will provide more info.

  13. Here are a few places I would suggest looking into.  You can go to either fodors.com or frommers.com to get more information on these destinations, but they are probably great options!

Ambergris Caye, Belize - Victoria House, Ramons, Villas at

Banyan Bay.  Or coastally check out The Inn at Roberts

          Grove

St John USVI - Caneel Bay, Maho Camps

    Canuouan Island - Raffles Resort

    Dominica - Jungle Bay Resort

Costa Rica - Si Como No

  14. Jamaica it is a tiny island surrounded by the Caribbean Sea whit lots of warm people the food is great and it is so wonderful.

    Enjoy your trip
