I'm really bored with my usual tofu recipes. I have a package of firm tofu sitting in the fridge but can't think of any thing good to do with it. What is your all time favorite tofu recipe? can you share your fave tofu recipe??

  1. I only had tofu hot dogs and they're delicious.

  2. Feeling lazy about food, so I'll say marinate and bake.

  3. BBQ Tofu

This is the best tasting tofu I have had.

    slice tofu into 8 pieces

mix 1/2 c. vegetable oil with 2Tbs. creamy peanut butter 3tsp. KC Masterpiece BBQ sauce

Pour over tofu and bake at 450 for 7 min then flip and bake 5 min more.

Remove from oven and turn oven down to 325.

Mix 2 c.  KC BBQ with 2tsp peanut butter.  cover 1 side with sauce and bake 30 min flip cover other side with remaining sauce bake 30 min more.

This tofu is better eaten cold

great on a bun with lettuce

    hard to make enough of

  4. My favorite recipie isn't the healthiest, but it's yummy.

Fry in a pan for a bit, however you typically fry it.  I usually use a little bit of olive oil.  Then, when you're about done, dump a bunch of brown suggar on it and wait until the suggar has that melted but still firm-enough look.  Enjoy ^_^.

    EDIT:

yanchagurl, that sounds awesome.  I'll have to try that later.

  5. i like to cube them, and just drizzle a little chili oil, soy sauce and chopped green onions over them.

but you can always buy packaged udon (japanese soup noodles) and  add the tofu along with some spinach, and sliced boiled eggs.

  6. Stir-fried tofu with vegetables (carrots, broccoli and mushrooms) sauteed with soy sauce. Really simple and really good.

    @->-->-

  7. My favorite would be fish fillet with tofu in black bean sauce over white rice. Of course you won't use fish but maybe it works without it too. Never tried it like that before though.

lightly saute minced garlic and sliced onions

    add to fried firm tofu

    add canned fermented black beans

you can add vegetables of choice

    stir fry until done

if desired, thicken with some corn or tapioca starch tapioca dissolved in bit of water

    pour over steamed rice

I did not put proportions and amounts because it's all really up to your own taste preference. And when I make this for myself, I dont measure anything. Fermented black beans are already salty so go easy on the salt.

    Or for soft tofu,

slice into rounds and simply dust with pankuo breadcrumbs and deep fry until golden brown..

use soy sauce with vegan sweetener and ginger

or vegan teriyaki sauce (or something similar) and eat with streamed white rice. As usual, you can complement with veggies of choice

  8. Marinate your tofu in a sweet chilli sauce(quite spicy and not for weeds!) then fry with garlic and grated ginger.  Leave to cool and fill a bowl(deep soup/cereal bowl) with watercress, sugarsnap peas, chopped spring onion, cooked and cooled butterbeans(or a tin) soya beans, chopped tomatoes, baby sweetcorn or tinned, cashew nuts, and finish with fresh coriander and top with the tofu and add a splash more of sweet chilli sauce! :)

  9. I don't have a tofu recipe but i will say i have eaten tofu before & it is pretty good. :)

  10. maybe the crispy tofu will do... it makes it more chewy, add some soy sauce, and add vegetables to have it more nutritiously and more taste to eat.

  11. Here are some of my favorite tofu recipes:

    Kung Pao Tofu

    Thai Cashew Nut with Tofu

    Pineapple Fried Rice with Tofu

All are stir-fried, and are very flavorful. Enjoy! :)

  12. Fried tofu with soy sauce or peanut sauce!

All you need is some kind of oil, preferably vegetable oil, and flour.

Dip the tofu in the flour and fry it till its light brown, then dip it in soy sauce or peanut sauce, its so good!!

  13. My favorite tofu recipe is this one made with spinach, healthy tasty and low fat.

  14. I second the peanut sauce idea.

Also, I like to get a marinade (that was made for meat), slice the tofu into slices and then marinate for about 10 minutes at least.. then sprinkles with paprika and bake.

Another thing I do is cube the tofu and use shake 'n bake.

  15. I like mine, cold from the fridge.

Pour some black soy sauce, cut chillies and sesame oil on it.

  16. Listen Hala, I am not after the 10 points, but you have to try this!

Take your 1 pound block of tofu (firm or even better extra firm) and cut it in thin (1/3 inch) slices,  and put in a zip lock with enough tamari or soy sauce to marinate well. Freeze this over night and pull out. Freezing tofu opens up the "pores" so that it will take more of the flavor of the marinate.

Then, mix a tablespoon of nutritional yeast with a little of the marinade so that it is kind of thick and sticky. Dip tofu cutlets

in this mixture and then drop into dry nutritional yeast with a little garlic and onion powder to "bread" it with this mixture.

Pan fry on both sides in grape seed or other healthy high heat oil till golden brown.

Serve with a squeeze of lemon juice, with vegan mashed potatoes (or vegetarian with milk and butter if you roll like that) and skillet sauted corn or green beans or whatever... this is my fav "country fried tofu" recipe.

    This S**t is the bomb!

If you do this or want other tofu recipes email me, I have muchos!
