  1. get a job a a small airport that has instructors/training, and spend all your time there - paid or not.  they usually give discounts to employees - and the instructors will help when they don't have a scheduled lesson - you'll learn all about planes - it will take a couple years, but then you can work all the way to instructor and get enough hours to jump to the airline.  if the owner invests that kinds of money in training you, they may want you to stick around a couple of years - but you'll still be getting paid, and building hours.

oh, being a commercial pilot means attention to detail - you need to show it at every turn - dress, writing, speaking, dealing with people, etc...

  2. The FAA has some great information on how to choose a school and what to look for when choosing a school. Since they are the ones who will certify you, I think they would be the best place to start.

Once you've got that figured out, there is a whole heap more of information available through their web site starting with this stuff: http://www.faa.gov/pilots/training/

  3. get prepared to go back to school
