What is your best Strategy for the Game of Risk?

Just wondering what your best strategy for the game Risk is. I've been playing a freeware virsion and I'm hooked.

You can either take Australia or South America at the start. Both only have 4 territories so they are easy to take. Australia has only one territory to defend, so it's easy to defend and you can amass all you forces there. South America offers better offence, as Africa and North America are both easier to take than Asia.

If you can mass your troops in one area. Avoid Europe. Australia is the best location to start. If your going to try and take Asia the Ukraine is the key. You have to seize that territory to have a chance.

2 - Hold it, build your army, hold it, build your army, hold it a little longer.

3 - Expand and win.

Agreed, australia and around there is the best place to build up a huge army (try to take that continent) then thrash your way through Asia and everywhere else!

Roll lots of 6s.  Collect and turn in lots of card sets.  That is all the strategy that is involved in Risk.
