  1. After finishing your game of golf, scrub your balls with a wire brush.

Three thumbs down. Golfers, where's your sense of humour?

Hmmm, more thumbs down. Definitely a humourless lot.

  2. Putting, putting and more putting. "Be the ball danny.....be the ball"

  3. course management. doesnt matter what handicap player you are, the best tip is course management.

  4. take a lesson and read a book - Power Golf by Ben Hogan is a good one.

Remember  - that the most important shot in golf, is the one your getting ready to hit.

Be ready to hit when its your turn.

Don't give or take lessons from the people you're playing with they don't know any more than you do and you're probably pissing the people off behind you.

  5. Swing hard.

  6. Dont play golf

  7. My best tip of all time is keep it simple. Master your grip

get set up correctly stay balanced and always finish facing the target. That simple tip alone covers many technical things

yet can help beginners have fun until they get more advanced.

  8. Dont swing too fast.

    Simple yet effective.

  9. Remove your 3 iron from your bag and replace it with another wedge. You will knock 10 points off your handicap with just a little improvement around the green.

When at a putting practice green, stick a tee in the ground at the back of the hole in the middle and aim for that. After practicing like that say 30 times remove the tee. You have now a much larger target to aim for and you have been encouraged to aim at the center of the hole.

To sum up: Short game is everything! Its no good banging the ball 300 yards if you cant do the business around and on the green. Enjoy...

  10. Take some lessons from a pro.

Been playing for 30 years. I cannot tell you what just a few lessons have done to improve my game.

  11. Make sure you are rotating your shoulder and keeping a straight elbow to prevent allowing your hand to get ahead of your swing.

  12. Remember your good shots and not your bad ones.

  13. play the course not your aponent.

  14. relax and take a leaf out of tigers book even if u cant hit a ball like tiger DONT think about ur last or your next shotonly think about the current shot that way ur concentration will be purely on that one shot allowing u to hopefully play better jst remember "one shot at a time"

  15. keep your hands in front of the ball.

  16. Relax.

  17. Here's the best putting tip I've ever heard.

Per David Toms on the Golf Channel's Playing lessons from the pro's.

When you're judging the speed for a putt, count how many seconds you think it will take for the ball to get TO the hole.

    David does a touch-football type count: "1-1000, 2-1000, 3-1000..."

I've practiced this on a practice green and this helps your distance control and helps get rid of three putts. Three putts add so many unnecessary strokes to your game.

You will be surprised how many full seconds a 30 footer will take.

Another tip that helped my game was to play more on-course golf. I was a driving range junkie and playing more real golf helped a lot. Try to find a practice hole somewhere or go when you can drop a few balls from various lies and situations.

Also obviously, like other people said, TAKE LESSONS. Don't worry about the cost. There are group lessons that are cheap and most teachers will give you an intro lesson for free so you can see if you like them.

  18. Dont be aggressive, let the club do the work. Always keep your head down too. Don't think your Tiger Woods off the Tee and think you can get on the green in one, play each hole in stages. for example. on a par 4 of 340 yards. Try tee off a steady 200-250 yards. nice and straight, keep the swing relaxed as the club will hit the ball the distance. your now 140-90 yards away. a nice straight chip onto the green or the fringes means you have a chance to putt for birdie or 2 putt for par. as long as your swing is relaxed and straight your handicap will improve.

  19. Visualize the shot you want every time.

  20. If you want to get better?

Take some lessons... then practice (not on the course)... otherwise don't waste your time and good money on lessons.

Even if you just want to get more enjoyment out of the game... the answer is the same... learn the golf swing, then practice - play - and practice some more until you get to a level you personally enjoy the game... careful though... you might get hooked.

  21. Keep your head down until your right shoulder lifts your head during the follow through. (if right handed). When putting.. never up never in... hit it to a spot 12"-18' past the hole.

  22. Keep your head down and make a full shoulder turn.and most important ............Have Fun !!!!!!!!!

  23. Golf is "a good walk spoilt", {Mark Twain}. Give it up.

  24. Keep relaxed by drinking beer.

  25. Always take some golf balls with you.

  26. Tee it High

    and

    Hit 'em hard!

  27. ALWAYS.....Keep your eye on the ball....That's the first rule in ALL ball sports.

  28. Always take your clubs with you.
