  2. Ballet lessons, piano lessons, karate lessons, Brownies and Girl Scouts, swimming class. My mother made me do everything. lol. I certainly did not have a boring childhood. I made a lot of mudpies too, climbed the mango tree in the backyard, flying kites (and mashin' dem up when dey get meh d**n vex), playing Tarzan (lol! We used to make de Tarzan sound too...ArrrarrrAAAAA.)

  3. I'd have to say going Tobago!  Every Easter and August vacation we pack (and over pack in my instance) and plan our trip way before the schedule travel time.

We went via the ferry - trust me Panorama, MV Tobago, National, MV Beauport - ain't luxury rides compared to the super fast ferries we have now

We stayed in John Dial (small village) and life was a beach!  Our house is over looking the beach - which was great for shell collecting, playing games, (sometimes bathing - but it was often rough) and as I got older modelling up and down the beach with my cousins!

All the village kids knew when we came and we always drew a crowd!  As a matter of fact I had my first crush there as well as a boyfriend or two!

It was memorable since Tobago is so relaxed when compared to Trinidad - you actually felt like it was paradise!

Other not so memorable moments - getting licks!

  4. The day my father, step-mother and I were picking grapefruit from a tall tree, she couldn't see because the sun in she eyes, and I directing she to ah maribunta nest.........

well if yuh mean "other things" I enjoyed, I loved when my aunt came over on Saturdays with her "portable dirt oven", and we made pone....I really can't remember if she made anything else ( ah sure she did ) but man I loved the pone. And not no poor **** pone with just cassava and coconut eh, it always ha to have pumpkin an sweet potato too, lawd, way dem days gone!?!

  5. I have so many great ones, I can't pick just one.  From going to bathe in the river to pelting the neighbor tree for mango and running when he come out to chase we. To catching butterflies and comparing who have the prettiest ones all the while suffocating them poor butterflies in the plastic bag..lol...I have endless gul!

  6. Saturdays bush cooking, after doing yuh yard duties, it was off to de river, we would put all the money we had and buy salt fish or red herring. on the way to the river, whoever cane field or orange grove was closeby would sure to be invaded,

we would roast breadfruit, cook soft yams green banana and pumpkin, we often got a beating for staying too long, but that was never enough to stop us.

    Here's mi granma's favrite speech,

if yuh go dung ah riva tuday an drown, ah pop yuh a$$ when yuh come bak.
