  1. the road out, because it is the road out ! only joking sorry if i offended anyone

  2. the nutters ! love em !

  3. I see by the negative comments there's a lot of folk from Edinburgh on YA tonight -  indulging in their favourite pastime of bashing Glasgow, because they mistakenly think it makes Edinburgh look better.... .. Well it certainly doesn't make Edinburghers look better- just bitter and twisted.

Scotland’s largest city (get over it, Edinburgh), is an exciting and vibrant city built on the banks of the River Clyde and set against a backdrop of elegant streets lined with some of the finest and beautifully preserved Victorian architecture. Glasgow has the feel of a major European city, yet manages to retain a distinctive Scottish flavour whilst offering a warm welcome to visitors.  You'll hear Scottish voices on its streets, something you'd be hard pushed to find in Edinburgh.

Glasgow may not be as photogenic as Edinburgh, but she has a lot of good points:

    - great shopping,

    - great nightlife,

    - fabulous Victorian architecture,

    - more parks (over 70) than any city in Europe

    - there's always something to do or see,  as Glasgow has a year-round calendar of festivals and events,  many of them FREE!.

    - art and culture are important in Glasgow life where galleries and museums are in abundance - and they're FREE!

    - A great wee subway system since 1896.

    - as special mention should go to Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, which within 6 months of re-opening after refurbishment in 2006, overtook Edinburgh Castle as Scotland's most popular tourist attraction!!!  - That must have hurt!!

The best part of Glasgow? - her people, much friendlier than those "you'll have had yer tea" Edinburghers.

  17. Glasgow is a big place, do you mean anywhere in the G1 to G84 postcode or for entertainment? or to live in it? apart from that we are all very friendly people. I don't know of a particular place in glasgow that is good, I live in the G postcode area but do not go into Glasgow City Area. Most people will say the West End is great for entertainment, I prefer the South Side, there is certain parts I would not want to live in, Paisley Rd West and Pollokshields is mainly immigrants from Asia or Africa. The East End has this shortest life span, so it is your choice.

  18. The central railway station. Victorian engineering at its peak.

  19. i like the skyline of glasgow,a lot of building went on post war and the skyline changed,i may be strange but i think all the high flats(eg red road etc)possess a certain grandeur and looks quite good, but its a pity said flats were not maintained to good standard to which people could actually live comfortably!i also like sauchihall st and the necropolis

  20. Any road that leads out of it !

  21. Glasgow is a big beautiful city with some of the nicest people you will meet anywhere in the world, the best part? any road leading to it in my opinion.

  22. The M74 back south.

  23. I guess how I'm interpreting your question is what my favourite part of Glasgow is - and I would have to ask "for what?"

For a pint, my favourite place to go is either O'Neills on Queen Street or just round the corner to The Auctioneers.

For a cocktail, my favourite place to go is Maggie May's in the Trongate.

For shopping, my favourite place is Buchannan Street - with a quick stop in Princes Square for a bite to eat.

For coffee with workmates, my favourite place is Great Western Road - you can find tons of coffee houses (both corporate and wee private places) where you can watch the world go by.  Try Sonny & Vito's for a change of pace on Park Road.

For a pub crawl, my favourite place is Sauchiehall Street - because after a few great drinks, you can stay out til 4am in the club.

For a bookstore, my favourite place is Borders (even though they're anti-trade union) on Buchannan Street.

For a museum or a day at the park, my favourite place is Glasgow Green and the People's Palace.

To catch a train, my favourite place is Queen Street Station - Central is much too confusing!

For a fancy bite to eat, my favourite place is The Bothy across from Ashton Lane.  For a medium-priced meal, my favourite place is Buzzy Ware's in Princes Square.  For a cheap deal, Subway on Woodlands Road has a brilliant ambiance and you can't beat the sub of the day!

I could go on and on...Glasgow is a lovely town and I always have fun in it...no matter where I go or what I do.  If you want some more fav's get in touch!

What's your best place in Glasgow?

  24. The road to England!

  25. city cente at christmas

    ibrox (L)
