Do you rely primarily on news from network TV, newspapers, Internet, FOX News, CNN, Op-Ed columns, books, magazines? Other sources? With so many different options to choose from, which source do you feel best helps you understand political and world events? Why is this source better than the others?

  1. English language short wave radio. And, in the current age, many of my favorites news and information programs are available live, on demand through web streaming, or podcasts. The source below is a link to a web site where you can click on a particular nation's broadcast outlet's page and navigate to their web casts.

It's better because it is non-commercial and the reporters are true reporters. Not those which inhabit U.S. TV news outlets.

  2. My very best source for the truth is Keith Olbermann's Countdown on MSNBC (weeknights at 8 pm). I wish everyone would watch this program as he tells it like it is and backs up everything he says with audio and videotapes. On this program I found out things about John McCain that you don't hear of in the network news programs (just sound bites there) or CNN or (Ugh!) Fox News. When a public figure comes out with a statement that contradicts something he said in the past, Keith will play the audio or video of him saying one thing previously, contrasted with what he is saying now. It gives you a chance to see what the person really is like. A lot of things about McCain (and any other subject) are not even mentioned on the regular news programs, but you'll see it on Countdown with Keith Olbermann! He socks it to the hypocrits and gives you a whole different perspective on the events of the day. He also points out the lies in McCain's dirty "paintball" campaigning, and explains how they are lies, by telling the other side of the story and backing it up with proof.
