What is your daycare limit?

Hi everyone,

I am looking at opening a Daycare facility in Les Couteaux (its about 20 minutes from the island of montreal), and I am wondering, what would be too much to pay for childcare services? And my next question is, would I be better to open up a daycare closer to montreal?

And what services in your daycare are important to you to have?

You really need to look into your licensing requirements.  I'm not sure about Canada...but in the U.S. each state as minimum requirments for daycare facilities and in-home child cares.  That's where you need to look first before opening a facility.  They will tell you how much space you'll need per child/room; staff training requirements; how many children you can be licensed for, how many staff you'll need, etc.

You'll want to do a little research on what is in the area...I'm betting that Montreal has quite a few daycares... maybe 20 minutes away isn't so bad...There are probably quite a few people to drive into Montreal for work ...and you might be right on the way...make sure you are near or have easy access to the main route.  In the U.S. we can find out who is licensed and for how many online...that is what I did when I was thinking about opening a center...where is the need?  Your other answer said to ask the schools...you bet!  They'll know if there is a need or not.  Good luck!

first of all you need to speak with the local schools and other daycare facilities in the area and speak to the parents in the are as to what they want and need.  each area has their own requirements for limits on size and activities.  in some areas it is best to have a sliding scale for payments as not all parents have the same amount of $ to pay, my most important factor is to have loving stable teachers who care about my child and not just their pocketbook.
