What is your dream road trip? No limits!?

I LOVE thinking about road trips.

I think my dream one right now would start in Northern BC at the Queen Charlotte Islands (www.qcinfo..ca) then drive down the west coast, through BC then Washington, then Oregon, then California. Then, drive through Through Central America, bridge the so-called Darién Gap and get into South America, driving on until the farthest tip.

IN MY DREAMS!

Anyone else have any crazy dream ideas?

  1. Hey! Awesome idea. Ive been planning a trip the same as that for a while now. Id love to take a year to drive from somewhere in Northern Canada (Probably BC since it's easiest to get to from Australia) all the way down to Tierra del Fuego in Argentina.

Ive done a little driving in Mexico and Central America and I think it would be the most amazing road trip ever. The only problem is that no road (that an sane person would use) exists between Panama and Columbia. You have to fly that leg and ship the car through. It's far too dangerous to drive through with all the rebel and gang activity in the area.

Still the rest of it would be challenging, but fun. Im hoping that next year I will have the time and money to do it.

  2. I would love 2 drive around in a new car, probably a Toyota or Honda, w/ my iPod or XM providing all my music, & visit all the continental 48. jenny, your dream road trip also sounds awesome. Feel free 2 send me a postcard from Ushuaia or Punta Arenas (both in Tierra del Fuego) when u get they're!

  3. One day I want to join the grey nomads (older Australians all doing the same thing) and drive around Australia.  It will take 6 months to a year and cover at least 15000 kilometers.  A lot of people do that here when they retire.  You need a 4 wheel drive, some camping gear, a GPS, lots of time and an adventurous spirit.
