Starbucks, exercise, crack?

I need something to wake me up this morning (preferably not crack as I do need to be semi-coherent).

My 9 month old is possibly teething, possibly going through separation anxiety...either way he has forgotten how to sleep at night and has been up 7+ times a night for the past week. I am dragging @ss today.

So how do you wake yourself up when you have gotten no sleep and need to function?

  1. mountain dew is my oxygen. lol

can you take a nap with your son? that might help

  2. Try lots of coffee. I remember going through that.I have 2 daughters (3 & 4). This maybe hard to do but you have to get him to stop expecting you to come running every time. I don't mean ignore him, but if he's having separation issues than this maybe his way of having mommy.Did he at one time sleep w/ you or have you suddenly went back to work? Either way you may have to show a little tough love but be reassuring at the same time. Like when my kids did the all of a sudden I can't sleep routine I would check on them but if I knew nothing was wrong I would let them cry.I know it sounds mean but they never cried long and I was sure to let them know mommy hadn't left but it sleep time so go night-night. If he's teething than keep baby orajel on deck and good luck.

  3. I used to do Starbucks. Too expensive. I find McDonald's iced coffees are great for waking up. Works for me at least. Never had their hot coffee although I know many who have and LOVE it.

  4. Starbucks all the way!  Grande Mocha Frappacinno with whipped cream on top and a chocolate chip cookie!!

  5. RED BULL

love the stuff, i have it on hand in my car at all times,my baby girl is teething too.

  6. They say the best thing to do is not to drink coffee in one sitting because it causes a crash later in the day.  Rather you should sip on it throughout the day.  Little by little.  I have not tried it, I read it last week.  I actually was going to try it but the coffee was making me sick to my tummy so I had to stop.

  7. Early Morning shower, wash that body then hit the coffee.

  8. Oh lord, I think of you tonight when I'm up for the 6th time :)

This morning my drugs of choice are mac and cheese (don't knock it til you tried it for breakfast) and coffee, extra black.

I debated the crack but the local dealer outside my agency overslept. B@stard.

  9. In my area, McDonald's is offering 32 oz. Cokes for $1.  That's my drug of choice lately!

  10. i blast my music, that always gives me a boost. my 3 month old used to sleep through the night and he just got over a cold and has been waking up through the night ever since! sometimes i ask my husband to give me a little smack too lol

  11. I think I need to find a drug of choice.

For the past few days, my 21 month old daughter has been waking up a good hour earlier than usual. Which means that after she manages to shove me out of bed, I stumble into the living room, fall face down on the couch, and somehow (will my head is buried in arm of the couch) manage to turn on cartoons for my daughter. And that is how we stay for about 15 minutes....LOL.

I think I need to try this "coffee" everyone is talking about. I have a maker, and have about 3 different types of coffee in the pantry, I just never make it....

As for crack dealers....yeah, I've found that they are totally unreliable. :)

  12. To wake up in the morning?

A cold shower, breakfast and then working on my thesis.

I take catnaps when I can and the baby is sleeping too.

  13. caffeine...coffee or pepsi one

  14. I am glad others are going through this.  This week my 4 month old started waking up about 3 - 4 times every night.  I have to work everyday at 7:30, so I think I have had a total of maybe 12 hours of sleep all week.  This morning at 6:00 a.m.  I had a bowl of Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ice cream.  My doctor told me he didn't want me having any caffeine (I have headaches sometimes), I didn't have any crack in the house, and my medicine cabinet was empty, so I went for the ice cream.  I am still tired, but I was smiling when I came to work today.  I hope that he will start sleeping again, because I was finally losing that baby weight and if I start every day with ice cream I could look like the stay puff marshmallow man very soon.

  15. Starbucks AND crack.  Crack is hard to come by in my hood these days now though, so I've been solely relying on my large iced lattes, lol :)

  16. Orange pop....on the rocks.

  17. Coffee or hot tea is the drug of choice, although if I'm honest with myself, I have better lluck with just getting moving--outside the house, inside, doesn't matter. Going for a brisk walk (hey, I have to do it anyway) first thing (then it's done for the day), whatever.  The coffee really doesn't do much anyway unless I help rev my metabolism by being active for some reason.  If I stay inactive, caffeine doesn't do much.  However, sometimes you just haven't had enough sleep to do anything and you just have to have a day of rest or go back to bed.  Mine woke me up at 4:30 this morning, raring to go.  When she went back to sleep at 7, so did I.  Coffee or exercise could not have done what 2 more hours did.

  18. You know, those $2 after 2pm w/ receipt drinks from Starbucks are what's kicking my butt lately.  When it's time to lay down and go to sleep at night, I'm not tired.  So, when I finally do fall asleep, I'm exhausted in the morning.  Then, I start it all over again w/ my triple (normally a quad but have to decrease it while BF) grande non-fat toffee nut latte.  It's a vicious cycle and Starbucks needs to QUIT tempting me w/ their little promotion!!!

One of these days I'm going to start utilizing my gym membership again so that I can get my energy level back up.  One of these days.

  19. Question has been reported.  Drug of choice!  There are kids on this site ya know.  If I can't ask a perfectly legit question regarding proper trolling techniques, down with all of YAHOO!!!!!  I've had it.  No more for me.

  20. Coffee or redbulls or cold water!  And fresh air def helps me!

    All the best :)

  21. A big cup of coffee.

  22. Exercise, ah I guess that could work and is probably the best bet in healthy life style, but I go for coffee (Dunkin Donuts make the best coffee in my opinion).

  23. Extra Large Frapp from Starbucks and two chocolate chip cookies.

I don't come down from that sugar high until 5pm.  Especially when I go get another Starbucks at lunchtime.

You should see the smoke flying as my fingers are typing on those days!  I go home with burns all over my fingertips.  :)

  24. I get the 32 ounce size rockstar and I also consume MASS quantities of black coffee. I live in a bad neighborhood and gunshots and the SWAT team shooting tear gas into my neighbors house kept me awake all night. If your son lays down for a nap today, you should join him =D

  25. STARBUCKS MOCHA FRAP HELPS ME.

  26. I usually have a nice glass of pepsi with ice.  It wakes me up and keeps me happy.

  27. Lately it has been the Monster Loco Mocha Energy drinks....Those put a lil pep in my step.....But I just found out I am 5 weeks pregnant with my second...so now I have to give those up AGAIN lol ....luckly Sarah has been sleeping through the night even while teething.

I hope it gets better for you soon.

  28. Sweet tart and Coke Baby!!!! It will pick you up on a wire and in about 2 and a half hours when Jr. is getting ready to crash for his first nap you will be able to too.

I would take the little critter out for some fresh air for some reason both boys of mine slept the night better when they had outside time.  I did a test on it for 3 months and charted so that I would be able to find a defining factor and outside time just made my life easier.  Even when I was dragging butt and would just sit there on the front porch with critter in the stroller it made it bearable.
