What is your experience either C section or vaginal - did your doctor deliver your baby? ?

When my son was born - I had a scheduled C section. To my surprise it was no Doctor that I've ever seen! Regardless he was great and my experience was good.

Now I am having a second scheduled C section. My current doctor is a sweet older man - but its obvious that he has had a stroke or has Parkinson's disease ( he is shaky). Next time I have a doctors appointment I will ask the staff or his nurse.

Regardless when doctors have practices and appointments with patients how can they really deliver all of their patients babies?

I recently watched a video on C sections that made me think that my doctor might be there - but they have regular OR doctors that will perform the C Section.

Just wondering your experience either vaginal or C section?

  1. I've had 3 Vaginal births - my OB/GYN doctor delivered all three of my kids.  He's very insistant on trying to be there when any of his patients give birth.  He's seen us through the whole pregnancy, only makes sense he would want to be there to deliver the result!!!  I was very happy he delivered all 3 of mine!  He's a great doctor!

  2. I have had 3 children and 2 c-sections. I had a group of doctors and they all took turns of doing deliveries. And, if it is a practice of one doctor.....he/she usually has another doctor on call if they can't be there.

  3. I have had 3 vaginal births and with the first two it was a midwife in the office that delivered but with the last child I had another office and it was female doctor who did all of my prenatal visits and the delivery just because I was at risk of loosing the child or there would have been a midwife then.

but I had wonderful experiences with all of them and I hope yours is good also

  4. I scheduled my c-sections (2) with MY doctor at the time he would be at the hospital.  The doctors office did the scheduling, and they just asked what doctor I wanted to perform the surgery.  My doctor performed the sugeries, but there were a lot of other people there.

  5. Vaginal.

I expected to see the doctor I seen for all of my prenatal appts because he told me so. he sent me from an appt to the hospital and said he would be on his way.

And my baby was not delivered by a doctor either. The on call doctor walked in and told me to push then left because "i was not ready." (excuse for not having expirience moron).

The nurse was a godsend and told me to push when I felt like I needed to. She ended up trying to call him but he never came so she called two interns who delivered him. The man came in first and helped me get the hang of pushing control and then the woman intern came in and caught my son and untwined the cord around his neck.

after about five minutes, the oncall doctor came in and yelled at the nurse for making me push. he was a jerk and was placed on disciplanary leave because of it.

never the less I did not see my doctor the WHOLE time i was in the hospital and he doesnt take that many women due around the same time.

I did however see him at my son's six week. He asked when I was coming in for my six week. I told him I wasnt because I thought he was going to be there. We had made a birth plan and everything. It flew out the window because he didnt show...

I hope no one has my expirience. I am already seeing a prenatal counselor (they refer to doctors who will be there to deliver) to make sure I know who is delivering and so they know what my birth plan is.

The worst part of the whole thing was what the oncall doctor said to my family and husband. He walked out swearing saying to my mom in particular "see she didnt need a d**n c section"
