I am not interested in doing it but have read both sides and would be interested in hearing from anyone who has feelings or experience whether positive or negative.

  1. When I first found out I was pregnant I considered adoption...  The family that I had been talking to loved the idea of artificial twinning...  I thought it was very wrong...  Why give a child the concept of twins?  If you are adopting you should be happy with just getting one!  I think artificial twinning is selfish and unfair.  The birthmom didn't have two kids she had one... Be happy with what you get!

  2. Since it wasn’t really specified what artificial twinning was. I looked it up. The site I found said that it’s adopting 2 children at the same time who are less then 9months apart in age and are not related biologically.  The article says this is rarely allowed in domestic adoptions. However that it does happen quite often from international adoptions.

I really don’t see a problem if a couple/person  feels they can provide a home for 2 children who cares that they are close in age. In some cases at least for some of the situations that happen that are international adoption many of this children are living in deplorable condition in orphanages. I saw something on a Russian orphanage a few years back very sad too many babies/children and not enough help. Some might be under the impression someone would just have babies or young toddlers that are artificial "twins" However someone could certainly  opt to adopt say two 7 year olds, one being say 6months older then the other child.

Artificial twining is just a silly term, its just like biological siblings who are born less then 12 months apart being called Irish “twins” Again silly because they are no more twins then artificial “twins”.

  3. Yep.  I also have to ask...what is artificial twinning?

  4. Adopting two unrelated children of the same age?

    Or creating clones?

  5. I've never heard that term before but I do know my husband's parents adopted his brother who was the same age as my husband (obviously not the same birthday, but there birthdays were within a couple of months of each other)

They were never known as any kind of twins though - because they weren't twins, obviously
