Detective Conan(Cased Closed) is the best Anime show ever created. you should check it out. you will get addicted to it.

I've always really enjoyed the Robotech Saga produced by Harmony Gold. It has action, romance, a decent plot line, Feasible scientific theory, good classic style animation(i.e; drawn by human hand), and many  characters that you can identify w/ and enjoy ! Plus there are over 100 episodes and if I remember correctly two or three movies. Then there is the Death Note series. I just started watching this one, and its pretty good so far !

My favorite anime movies are those directed by Hayao Miyazaki.  You should totally check them out and the other movies from Studio Ghibli.

Anything by Hayao Miyazaki is fantastic. I also liked the Escaflowne movie, and Samurai X movies. Wolf's rain was animated wondrously, as well as Avatar: the Last Air Bender (if that counts)
