My relatives are comming to visit NYC in October. They would like to go to see one of the Broadway shows. I have never been there (but should have) so don't have many recomendations besides the ones that are comming from many advertisements. I would like to hear from somebody who has been on Broadway many or at least several times, since my relatives are big theatre fans and aren't amatures. The few that came to my mind were Chicaco, Lion King, Mamma Mia, The Little Mermaid etc...

  1. Wicked was amazing, Chicago is really good too

i heard Jersey Boys is amazing also, Legally Blond maybe not. You should take them to something they don't know. Like Mamma Mia is out in theaters and everybody knows the Little Mermaid and the Lion King.

Good Luck, hope this helps =]

  2. GREASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

  3. See 'Brigadoon' if it comes back to B'way. I have seen it locally, and the actors and music can do no wrong. Very moving, romantic and entertaining.

  4. I think Hairspray was GREAT! I've also heard from a lot of people that Wicked is fantastic! Check it out!

  5. Wicked. I've been to see it twice. My third time will be on August 7th.

It is a true blockbuster in every sense of the word. A phenomenon that will just get bigger. It has something for everyone.

The way it takes a classic story we all know, "The Wizard of Oz", and shows us that we know nothing is amazing and surprising. Go see the show.

EDIT: Well, you see the great thing about Wicked is that it has many levels. It has something for every viewer. It satisfies any audience. Its the one musical thats sure to please everyone (unless you have no soul!)

  6. I love Wicked, personally. Every cast member brings brings magic to the stage. The story, music, and staging is beautiful and it certainly gives the old Wizard of Oz a new twist. That would be my choice, but Rent is great with incredible music and Mary Poppins is a really fun show for the whole family. Good luck!

  7. I love Wicked. In The Heights is great too. So is Avenue Q.

The 39 Steps is also funny.

Family shows - for all ages: Wicked, Mary Poppins, The Little Mermaid

Billy Eliot is premiering on October.

Are you considering Off-Broadway? You can try Stomp and Blue Man Group.

  8. Wicked is amazing. The vocals are amazing. The story is amazing. The whole thing was amazing!!! It gave me goosebumps because it was so wonderful!

  9. SWEENY TODD.
