  1. I have been teaching Quran in Canada to university students for awhile now, and the best translation that I've come across is Muhammad Asad's translation, titled "The Message of The Qur'an".

Its got both, translation and commentary. Its got transliteration too!

You can buy it on amazon.com, astrolabe.com, etc. You can even buy an e-copy of it at:

    http://www.diesel-ebooks.com/cgi-bin/ite...

    Hope that helps!

  2. The best English translation of Holy Quran with Commentary and explanation is that of Abdulla Yusuf Ali.  It is available in almost all Islamic book stalls.  The cost of the translation is about 20 dollars (About 750 Indian Rupees in India).

The English translations by Abdulla Yusuf Ali, Moulana Abul Kalam Azad, Marmaduke Pickthal and another person are vailable in "ALIM" C.D. of ISL Software Corporation which are available in all Islamic Centres.  The web site is "alim.org".  You can purchase a copy of the C.D. through on line.  The email ID is <sales@islsoftware.com>

<support@islsoftware.com> The English translations of Saheeh Bukhari, Saheeh Muslim, Abu Dawood, Tirmidi, Fiqh Sunna, detailed history of Prophets and 60 companions of the Prophet and several other features are available in the C.D.  The C.D. costs only 40 dollars (1171/- Indian Rupees).

  3. The one by Abdullah Yusuf Ali.

Dunno how much it costs or where to get it from.

  4. in this web site  you can download the qu'ran with its comentary and explanation.

  5. Yusuf Ali is the best translation bar none. He studied language and knew Arabic and English fluently. He used the highest form of English for correct translation. His translation and commentary are also so complete. It's awesome. But that is found in book form and not online (I don't think). If ya get a chance get the book! It is really great to study with the commentary because it goes into great detail to further explain details, history, context, meaning, etc. I love it!

    Salaam! Take care! :o)

You can  order it online on amazon:

    2nd Most Fav

    Ali Unal

Both of these translators are VERY Reliable and the best thing about their translation is that they are written in contemporary English.

    Edit

I hope u have learned many things about Ahmadis from Y!A.

Ignore the 1st answerer, he posted an Ahmadi link and the translators are Ahmadis, not Muslim.

    BE AWARE.

  7. Mohammed Asads' translation is my favorite, though for some reason it is hard to find. He was a Jewish convert to Islam, and spoke around 6-7 languages fluently. His biography is fantastic, and I find the translation itself to be not only accurate but readable; some of the older english translations are a bit out of date and aren't as clear.

http://www.islamicity.com/QuranSearch/ has the whole translation available for further study

  8. http://store.alislam.org/holyquran1.html

The above is an excellent website.  It has the short and long commentary of the Quran by Sher Ali and Ghulam Farid.

You can read it for free online at the below address.
