What is your favorite Racing Horse's name.?

We all like the horses, and for different reasons.But I am a fan of alot of different horses.If you could pick your favorite,and tell me why.My favorite name;Charismatic...I picked Charismatic to win the Derby.The horse was great.Whats yours??

He's wasn't the greatest horse ever but he had one of the greatest names ever.

Ruffian.  The greatest filly to ever set foot on the track.  She was simply amazing.  She refused to lose.  She never lost a race and even after breaking her leg, she tried to continue running.  And she was beautiful...  tall and black...  and she moved effortlessly.  She's my all-time favorite... but i never got to see her run.

As for horses in my lifetime...

Afleet Alex was the first horse I really backed...  it was the first year that I really started watching racing and I chose him for all the triple crown races.

And then there's Barbaro of course...  last summer and fall I checked for Barbaro info on the internet almost religiously at least once a day...  poor guy...  RIP.

This year my favorite was Scat Daddy... but we all know how that turned out ;o)

Secretariat is my favorite horse. But, my favorite name would have to be Alydar. I don't know why, but I think Alydar is a great name for a horse. Calumet Farm used to have the best names for horses.

I agree, Charismatic is my favorite as well.  He's one of the unsung heroes of horse racing: a great horse that never received the recognition he deserved.  If you haven't read the book detailing his story (Three Strides Before the Wire), I would highly recommend it.

If we're just talking favorite NAME, then I have to say that my all-time favorite racehorse name is Lonesome Glory.  This horse was champion steeplechaser 5 times!!!!!  And in my opinion, if you sat down and spent five years just trying to think of the perfect name for a great champion, you couldn't do any better than Lonesome Glory.  I have to say that as far as steeplechasers go, he's right up there with Red Rum as one of my all-time favorites.

There are so many, its hard to pick one, but as a child and watching my first race I placed my bet (with my dad here at home:) on Spend A Buck and he won.  I don't remember what race but he was my lucky number #7 so, a great horse and still a place in my heart as that is what got my interest in the racing scene!

My favorite horse name is probably Pepper Pot Pete.  Pete is a standardbred and got his name from his salt & pepper roan coat, a color that is not common to that breed.  You could always pick Pete out in a field of seal-brown horses and his name just fit him.

It is really hard to pick a favorite from watching racing over the years. A horse that I used to always love to watch run on either turf or dirt was a horse named New Connection. He always tried his guts out and I think he probably finished in the exactor in 80 to 90 percent of his lifetime starts which I guess would number close to 60. I also have a sentimental favorite named Golden Choice who I bet on many years ago in the Queens Plate and had him win the race as a maiden. My favorite name of a horse would have to be FUGDIVINO and I think if you say it over to yourself enough you can figure out what the namer was trying to get across, and he managed to sneak it by the racing commission, lol.

Precisionist...although he wasnt my all time favorite racehorse, he was competing when I started hanging out at the racetrack a lot ,I always thought that was a very cool name for a racehorse, a hall of fame stakes horse he was a champion sprinter in 85 at 4 and won a number of grade 1 races at various distances up until the time he retired at 8
