But anyways,my favorite sports anime has got to be The Prince of Tennis.

Air Gear, definately.

I would have to say "Hajime No Ippo" or "the fighting ippo" its about a boy who gets teased in school and while he's getting beat up he's rescued by a boxer. Ippo eventually becomes familiar with the sport and becomes a known boxer himself. Its really great..
