  1. My favourites are the Harry Potter ones done by Jim Dale.

  2. I love the Harry Potter ones read by Jim Dale.  He is an awesome reader and just has the perfect voice for it.  Plus, they are such moving books (not just action, but they move) that I have never had a problem driving or staying awake while listening to HP in the car.  We've listened to them on 17 hour trips.

Of course, they might be hard to stop when commuting unless you've already read the books.

    Others I've listened to:

Running with the Demons Trillogy by Terry Brooks

Light of the Moon? by Dean Koontz (not 100 percent sure of the title)

    Michael Crichton moves too

100 Secret Senses by Amy Tan

    and more

  3. I make audio books for myself using a free website called YAKiToMe! http://www.yakitome.com. Uses high-quality text to speech from AT&T and Microsoft to turn any electronic text into an mp3 you can download to your iPod or listen to on your computer, or burn a CD. Reads in different languages and at different speeds with male and female voices. Enjoy!

  4. The only way I survive my commute is because of audiobooks.

Most things by Douglass Preston are great. I really like the Agent Pendergast stories.

The Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich is almost all available on audiobooks and these are great for long family drives.

"The Rabbit Factory" is a very good listen. You regret when the story ends because you want to hear more.

Look for novels by Jasper Fford. Start with "The Aire Affair" funny British humor that almost makes you want to read classic literature to get the jokes.

There are also a number of Kathy Reichs novels on audiobooks (This series of books spawned the "Bones" TV series - but the books are better.)

  5. I have never used a audio book, but I was thinking of getting one the next time I go to the book store.  I have heard that they are really nice.

  6. A short history of nearly everything by Bill Bryson
