  1. If you mean fairy tales... I'd have to go with the original story of the Little Mermaid. In the original, the Little Mermaid has run out of time to get married to the Prince, which means she will turn into sea-foam and die. He's about to marry another woman the next day, and the Little Mermaid's sisters appear. They've cut their hair and sold it to the sea witch in exchange for a magical knife. If the Little Mermaid kills her prince, she will live. In the end she dies for love. (And the epilogue has some thing for children, saying that if they're bad she'll never go to heaven or something, but that's less important to me.)

I'm a big fan of the dramatic, hopeless, doomed romance of it all.

A close second is La Belle et la Bete, Beauty and the Beast, but, again, I prefer the original to the Disneyfication.

  2. Those Harlequin novels..

  3. I like little red riding hood because people say I'm an older copy of her.

  4. My mom always made up stories, which she let us throw in details! As for styles though, the Brothers Grimm were always cool! And then when I began reading, I found this book on fairies from different cultures and that was always interesting to read! Now for my kids, my mom bought this compilation of fairy tales from around the globe and it has some wonderful stories that offer more than our typical American ones, that are fun to read to my kids!

  5. Well from the age of about 1-4 it was Goodnight Moon....
