Also, how much do you use it?

Links or suggestions of where to buy would be especially appreciated.

This probably wasn't the right category to put this in, but I couldn't find one that exactly matched.

  1. Blue Willow, because both my grandmothers had it.

I have accumulated 2 full sets.

  2. Lenox is the best brand. Go with something simple so it won't look dated in 30 years. I use mine about 3 times a year.

  3. You can never go wron with Lennox....and they have company outlet stores all over, great prices.  We've had ours, mostly wedding gifts, for more than 48 years. Pattern's discontinued, though.

  4. Just going through this discussion with my daughter who is setting up her bridal registry.  Get a simple china that will always look elegant and will match serving bowls and platters made from silver, crystal or other materials.  I think china rimmed with silver is better than gold.  I personally like an off white rather than a pure white

  5. having been in the catering game for quite a few years, alwayss go for a plain white pattern. you can alway introduce colours with napkins etc. plain white will always be in fashion

  6. I don't own any dinnerware, but I have a Royal Doulton bone china figurine that was my great-grandmother's, so I'll recommend their designs. I've seen some plates they make that are very beautiful. I like the simplicity of these: http://www.royaldoulton.com/product/brow...

I don't host many parties, and I don't own a country home in Connecticut, so I don't think I'll be buying fine china any time soon. And for normal use, I'd be afraid it would break. Maybe I'll register for some when I get married, but otherwise it's not something high up on my priority list.

  7. Blue Danube......Classic navy blue and white, very elegant.
