6 ANSWERS

  1. 67 427 Corvette Coupe.

  2. 67 shelby mustang

  3. a 4dr 66 Pontiac Bonneville

jus like the one in Smokin' Aces

  4. 1969 Plymouth Superbird 'wing car'.

  5. That's a real toughie!

Some of the greatest designs ever were created in that era, and I'm sure you are planning to award "best answer" to the person who guesses which is *your* favorite, right?

    Candidates (in no particular order):

Jaguar XK-E -- s**y as can be, technologically brilliant with an engine descended from Le Mans winners, and with performance of a car twice its price.  Dad's were a red '61 roadster and a silver-blue '67 4.2 coupe.  Said to be the inspiration for Bill Mitchell's design for the:

C-2 Corvettes.  My favorite would be a '65 coupe, the last of the fuel injected Sting Rays.  The small-block cars were better balanced than the rat-motor 'vettes.

    Ferraris:

1962-64 250GT Berlinetta Lusso.  The most beautiful Ferrari ever made.

1966 275GTB/4, sexier than the Lusso, faster, but less elegant.

Much as I admire them, I never thought the 365GTB Daytona had the voluptuousness of the greatest Ferrari designs.

1967 Porsche 911 S -- A true sports car in the tradition of a lightweight chassis with a highly tuned small engine to yield performance all out of proportion to its engine capacity.

1967 Mustang -- this came close to being my first car, and I still prefer the "Bullit" styling of this year to the original.  Give me a K-spec 289 to keep the weight over the front wheels down.

1967 Camaro Z-28 (the one that just said "302" on the fender ahead of the front wheels).  I rode in a friend's, and learned that the carburetor intake plenum and cabin ventilation intake shared the same hood inlet, and at full throttle, it sounded as though the engine was trying to suck you in through the dash vents.

1969 Chevrolet El Camino SS 396.  Is this a car?  I always liked this version, although I admit I prefer the '70's styling.

1968 Dodge Charger Hemi.  The one American car where it just doesn't make sense to me to have anything but the biggest baddest fire-breathing engine available.  Sorry, but the equally awesome Plymouth Road Runner isn't as pretty.

1967 Lotus Elan -- The ever-desireable Emma Peel's ride in The Avengers was the last real lightweight British Sports car, which like the Porsche 911, performed far beyond what you'd expect from a mere 1600cc.  Inspiration for the wildly successful Mazda MX5 Miata.

1961 Lincoln Continental 4-door convertible.  I prefer a solid roof over my head, but this Lincoln is in a class by itself.

1967 De Tomaso Mangusta:  Called by one magazine the most beautiful series production car on the planet.  Dad's was fly yellow, and handled like a pig.

Lamborghini Miura S -- I'd like to say an "SV" but that's a 1971 car.  The very definition of "exotic" car.

    So which is my favorite?

    AUUGGHH!  How to decide?

    Okay, okay.  I'll do it.

The E-type 4.2 coupe gets my vote.  Elegant, fast, smooth and s**y.

  6. 63 F.I. Stingray rag top or even a split window
