  1. Angels & Airwaves..

    (AVA)

because their sound is so different and they have promised a music revolution and they certainly have brought it.

  2. Thank you for posting this question...

Led Zeppelin... very riffy music for its time when most all other bands were playing "white man's blues" and hippie jam band c**p.

The Who... Bass guitar and drums were very prominent in their sound, which was pretty original for its time.

Rush... Excellent musicians, great lyrics, and a sound that spanned Classic, Hard Rock, and Progressive.

Pink Floyd... no band has been able to reproduce their sound to this day. Sublime.

Yes... again, fantastic musicians and highly orchestrated music. Lyrics were a bit lofty though.

King Crimson... these guys were always ahead of their time, and still are.

The Doors... Jim Morrison. That's all you need to know.

Jimi Hendrix... the ORIGINAL rock guitarist.

I could go on, but I think these bands are some essential listening.

  3. Pink Floyd

They are different because they use lots of sound effects in their music.

  4. The Doors and Led Zeppelin!!

Robert Plant's(Led Zeppelin) and Jim Morison's(The Doors) voices are just unique!!

  5. Boston.  The words actually mean something and the the music is precise.

  6. I actually wouldn't have a single favorite. The first thing that came in my mind were Led and The Beatles. Here are some of my favorites.Cheers!;)

Rolling Stones - Were popular at the same time as the Beatles. But they were kinda different since they were into more hard rock as seen with Keith Richards.

Queen - Made the master piece "Bohemian Rhapsody".Great vocals and lyrics thanks to Freddie Mercury,(may he rest in peace)and with a great solo thanks to Brian May.

Pink Floyd - Contributed to the Classic Rock world with comfortably numb.An eerie song, yet with a great song. It's one of those songs you have to listen twice so you may get the gist of it.

The Doors - Jim Morrison,The Lizard King was a great musician.Though with an eccentric air, he had a great voice and musical talent. It's a loss, that he died young.I don't understand why rock stars have to take drugs anyway.I love Riders of the Storm.

The Who - One of my personal favorites. They inspired a lot with with Pete's guitar style with his "bowling" guitar picking was wild.Broke their instruments after their performances.Lost a good bassist, how sad.

Eric Clapton - As a soloist and with Cream were either way great. He had an inspiring way of guitar playing, in classic rock and blues.Thank God he ain't dead yet.

  7. James Marshall Hendrix, with guitar and lyrics(1983 A Merman I Should Be).

Pink Floyd with Obscured By Clouds, Atom Heart Mother, and Dark Side of the Moon.

ZZ Top with The First Album, and Tres Hombres.

    Eric Clapton and Cream

Queen with Jazz, Bohemian Rapsody, Bicycle

    Doors with The End

Grand Funk Railroad with Somekind of Wonderful

    James Gang with Walk Away

Led Zepplin with Houses of the Holy

and oh come on, it only goes on and gets better from there!

  8. def leppard..cuz they are just flipping awsome!

  9. Definitely Led Zeppelin. Robert Plant's unique screeching vocals and charisma undoubtedly make him my fav lead man of all time, Jimmy Page composes incredible songs with awesome, hypnotic riffs, each of them completely different from the others but with the potential of becoming a major hit. Not to mention John Bonham played far better with his bare hands than most of the drummers today and was extremely versatile(just listen to D'yer Maker and convince yourself!). Also, they were extremely innovative for their time, they influenced most of the bands from the 80's, opened the path to heavy metal and actually wrote the first viking metal song of all time(namely Immigrant Song), without showing any particular interest in the genre.

Not to mention that even reluctant listeners or those who preffer others genres have to be deaf not to like songs like Whole Lotta Love, Kashmir or Black Dog.

  10. Pink Floyd

There music is beautiful and disturbing.

Watch "The Wall" and you'll see what I mean.

  11. Guns N Roses!! They were the new revolution of rock! They were so daring and Raw  and didn't care what anyone thought!!!!!!!!! Axl's voice really to me made them stand out fron the rest of the rock groups!

  12. I'm in a very strict Dylan phase. 3 vols of greatest hits.  "Like a rolling stone" mentionted with "layla" and "hey jude" as the greatest rock and roll song. He's morphed and re-morphed -- the greatest american song writer in history.

    Buddy Holly?

  13. Aerosmith.

They singlehandedly combatted the onslaught of the British Invasion with American hard Rock. Plus they're drug free now.
