Question:

What is your favorite crochet stitch?

I was just curious. I have been trying half double, double and triple crochet but I always seem to go back to the single crochet. It just looks nicer. I haven't perfected the other stitches yet so maybe that is why.

Actually, a year ago when I started back up with crochet again after not doing it for ten years I made the mistake of doing all my stitches in slip stitch and I actually like that. Right now I am just making simple squares because I want to attach them together and make a blanket. Not all my squares are the same exact size but I think it will look cute anyway when I finally put them together...which should be fun because I'm not sure how either!

Anyway, I was just wondering what stitches you guys liked? Thanks so much!

  1. I like double, but am using half doubles for the "prayer shawls" I'm working on these days.  Can't quite figure out what border to use, though; fringe is discouraged because of the possible tangles. Some of our recipients are elderly & in wheeechairs, so we need to keep things as simple as possible.

  2. Hah, I only know how to do one, and i don't know what it's called, but I like it for stripy scarfs.

My sister has a scarf though that has like bubbles sticking out of it. I don't know what that's called but it's nice.

My mum has a zig-zaggy blanket that she made, and I like that too.

  3. I also like single crochet when I make my favourite afghan in the ripple pattern. I also like shells which are 2dc ch3 2dc.

  4. I like crossed doubles. they finish up the row so really cool looking. I also like making double trebles and other things of that nature

and for finishing things I love the crab stitch. also known as the backward single.
