I'm Going wit the North American Aviation P51 Mustang. The "D" model, with the Roll-Royce Merlin, with superchargers, and drop tanks. All the way to Berlin and back, baby. The Supermarine Spitfire was just abou the pretiest plane ever built, but, the Mustang. What a piece of work.

  1. Supermarine Spitfire, P-51Mustang, McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom, and of course the F-22 :)

I also saw a video of an F-15 with no wing making it back safely to base (probably the same vid).. Was very interesting and amazing !

EDIT: Hahaha yeah about the phantom.. i think its nick name was 'The flying Brick'.. or 'Brick with Wings'

  2. P-47 Thunderbolt, particularly the later bubble canopied versions.  Not very pretty, but it was a big, heavily armed brute with the added plus of being very sturdy and protective of its pilot.

  3. I'm with you on the looks dept. The "Spit" was a beauty. To be fair though the Hurricane probably did more of the "Donkey work" Once they started fitting the Merlin in the P51 it made them a fearsome piece of kit!

A Merlin running at "full song" is one of the best noises on the planet!

My father flew Lancasters during WW2, he had 4 to keep him company!

  4. Nothing else its F 15.

  5. there are several that I like My most favorite would be the F-16 fighting falcon.  very versitile fast and deadly.  I also like the A-10 warthog  I know it aint much of a fighter but its attack capabilities are impressive.  I also like any of the WW2 fighters the P38 P51 and others.

  6. The CF-105 Avro Arrow.  Yeah it never entered service but was totally designed and built here in Canada and blew away any contemporary aircraft in terms of performance.

For example, the Arrow had a thrust to weight ratio of 0.73:1 at maximum gross weight.  The contemporary F-4 (already considered overpowered) had only a 0.61:1 thrust to weight ratio.

The top speed of the Arrow was projected to be Mach 2.5, a limitation based only on airframe heating, not lack of power.  It was supposed to break the world speed record, but never had the chance and all were destroyed.

Plus, it was pretty cool looking.

  7. a beautiful mustang from world war II

  8. The Spitfire is doubtless overall a good looking machine. But I love the appearance of the North American Mustang, and the P-38 twin engine fighter/ bomber. Lovely.

  9. F4U Corsair.   I love the inverted gull wings.   Lots of people think it was the best fighter of the war.

  10. ill go for F117 and YF22 raptor heh about oldies hmmm the OV 10 Bronco hahahjh

  11. Totally the F-86 Saber E!  It represents the pinniacle of gunfighting airplanes.  It flew in the time when the US pilots push the speed of sound and used the old gun to duel with their foe.  No cheap missiles just blood, sweat, and lead.  In my opinion there is nothing better than looking up and seeing the silver wings reflect the sun and hearing that high subsonic   roar!

  12. my favorite plane of all time is the messershmitt me-262 schwalbe the worlds first jet fighter. with junkers jumo 210 jet engines it could out run any allied aircraft but too late to make any difference as a fighter in early 1944
