Looking for some opinions before I start booking. Side note, should I book in advance or can I rock up to the hostel on the day?

  1. Young and Happy.

I stayed there several times: the first when I was 24, then again at age 25, 26 and 28. Now I'm 32. Each time I met great people in the bar, and was able to walk to lots of places. Try to get a room on the top floor ... I remember it having more room and, obviously, a better view.

It's not a high-end hostel ... the bathrooms are communal and on every other floor.

  2. Better book in advance. And I can give u more accurate advice if u specify your hotel budget.

  3. It's PARIS. The world's number one tourist destination!

Definitely book in advance! The hostels are crowded.

Especially if you're going in July or August.

As for my favorites, I don't have any but you can view the best rated hostels here. http://www.hostels.com

An alternative to hostels, would be Bed & Breakfasts, or renting a cheap appartment.

I found a cheap appartment on this website.

    It's 200$ per week, imagine?

I'm planning to rent it once in Paris.

Perhaps you can rent it before me and tell me what you think :-)

  4. Montclair in Montmartre was great. I stayed there last year and it was a great experience. Our room had its own ensuite. The breakfast was free and nice, toast, jam, cereal, juice, coffee, tea. 5 minutes walk from the Sacre Ceour. 10 min walk from nearest metro station. Not too noisy or sleezy and reasonably priced.
