  1. I'm a little more risky (says my hubby). I ENJOY buying homes renting them, selling them, fixing them up...  etc...

  2. I am a big advocate of value investing (finding great companies to invest in, buying them at the right price, and then selling only when the company becomes overvalued...).

I personally believe it's the best way for independent investors to reduce their risk of investing in the stock market while also having great opportunities for huge returns.

There are lots of ways to invest (momentum trading, options trading, forex trading, etc.), but I truly believe that the value investing approach is incredibly lucrative AND reduces your risks of losing your capital.

Plus, the principles of value investing are easy to understand and to follow, but it does take discipline to check your emotions at the door, because investing in the stock market can be dangerous for people who are too easily willing to pull the trigger (buying or selling) on their emotions...

There are a lot of great books available for learning the principles of value investing (some of my favorites are on my website...).

Regarding investing in the US vs. the UK, the principles of value investing translate from market to market.  How you go about actually buying companies in the States versus in the UK depends on the brokerage firm you use to conduct your transactions.

Either way, I believe that value investing is a great approach to learn and to master for the independent investor, so I'd highly encourage following it.

Hope this helps, and good luck!!
