I am in search of a poem about love. What is/are your favorite poem(s) about love?

Poems that make a person go "this is exactly how i feel about her"

Poems that make a person all warm and fuzzy on the inside.

Poems that truly say "I love you" but not in those 3 words or "i cant stand being without you"

Thanks for all your help! =)

  1. I like the old stuff, like Mrs. Browning counting the ways she loves Robert.

  2. When you are old and grey and full of sleep,

And nodding by the fire, take down this book,

And slowly read, and dream of the soft look

    Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep;

How many loved your moments of glad grace,

And loved your beauty with love false or true,

But one man loved the pilgrim Soul in you,

    And loved the sorrows of your changing face;

And bending down beside the glowing bars,

Murmur, a little sadly, how Love fled

And paced upon the mountains overhead

And hid his face amid a crowd of stars.

    --William Butler Yeats

  3. I wrote this one a few years ago.  it's probably not what you're looking for, but I still like it.

In the morning when I wake, I always look to see.

Were you really there, lying next to me?

It’s always disappointing, but it makes me happy too.

Because I know while I slept, I was dreaming of you.

  4. Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?

Thou art more lovely and more temperate:

Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,

And summer's lease hath all too short a date:

Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,

And often is his gold complexion dimmed,

And every fair from fair sometime declines,

By chance, or nature's changing course untrimmed:

But thy eternal summer shall not fade,

Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow'st,

Nor shall death brag thou wander'st in his shade,

When in eternal lines to time thou grow'st,

So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see,

So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

I'm a sucker for the classics, and this is probably the most classic. I love how you only seem to fully understand it when you are in love, and when you are not in love you can appreciate it for all of the thinly-veiled sexual innuendo stated with such eloquence.(nothing like Willy the perv)

  5. woah.

you dont give much to go on.

really hardly at all, as if

    the very same things were

going to answer to all. Pall

the love dimension as you trawl

around for fish as if some Xian

Carepenter had dun it all delish.

My favourite love poem, for your pick and choose, does not fit the qualifiers - it runs

    There is a darkness

    Below and

    A darkness above -

    The one you

    Reach through h**l,

    The other love.

    It is mine own poem.

Beyond that, the best love poems are not necessarily about romantic love bonded to the human form. Man...like, a poem that speaks of honey melted into warmed up cream and strawberries meeting the palate of your tongue may make someone go "this is exactly how i fell about her" without them even realising it, where a poem about "honey blond hair waving in the breeze without a care, in my world" - note the all-important comma there - could simply leave one cold. It is like the difference between erotica and pornography - de gustibum non disputandum est, yet one is oblique and subtle in its approach, the other obvious and acute, and depending on the flavour of the moment and the taste of the time, the state of development of said "feeling about", which may have "become like a rainbow hued ice cream melting in the summer of hour love, running hot, but needing a glove", or be "as fresh as the due upon the hour-glass of examination, there is only so much time, and I find that I am racing", one or the other may find favour.

So...I find it hard to answer your question fully. Apologies.
