What is your favorite meal that your mum makes?

In America when people think of Irish food they think of Corned Beef and Cabbage, Bangers’ and Mashed, Irish Stew, Shepherd’s Pie and of course Guinness. I’m sure there is more to Irish fare then that. What do you enjoy eating that would be considered traditional foods of Ireland?

im from berks. in fair ol blighty, and im inclined to think that the old roast dinner is most traditional...

But my mums spaghetti bolognese is her best.And i dont like gravy, so maybe im biased...

Rabbit Stew was always a favourite of mine but I do love any lamb dish. Roast beef was a treat for Sunday with roast potato, carrots and  parsnips mashed together, yorkshire pudding and gravy.

I don't know and why dont you tell us as in Singapore they always promote Irish stew and Guiness during St. Pats day and we all think that in Irish peple only eat those stuff. Honestly I have not travelled to Ireland and first thing that comes to my mind are pubs grubs and Kilkenny or a pint of Guiness.

         I am afraid I am too old now for a mum to be at the range cooking up all kinds of good Irish food, which consisted of all the usual foods, most of which you have mentioned in your question, but there are exceptions, such as Brack loaf, very fruity and best served hot with home made butter, and Soda Bread served the same way, made with buttermilk, yukk! I never could take to that stuff, but my Da used to drink it ' double yukk!'

So what's left, I love to go into 'Supermacs', ( A BIT LIKE MCDONALDS, BUT VERY Irish, outlets everywhere in the country) when I am at home on one of my 2 annual visits to see my family in Ireland, and I love the curry-chips they serve and the odd burger too, and we are told it is all Irish produce on the packaging, and then I like to enjoy a HB Golly bar, starngely very white and sweet Ice cream. Mmmmmm delicious, then I am fed for a whole day, you have to watch your weight on food intake such as these, but very nice all the same, and in Modern day Ireland I would call this kind of food Traditional now......
