  1. The Secret by rhonda Byern . It helpd me to change my lifestyle deeply.

    Thanks for reading

  2. I recommend "Illusions" by Richard Bach.

It has the same theme as the Secret, but I think, better presented, and as an allegory rather than an outright motivational book.  It helped uplift me.

I also read "the Secret," and I recommend, if you read the book, take it with a grain of salt.  It has some goodness, but there's a dangerous quality in accepting its claims outright.  It  may lead you to believe you can get rich and cure disease just by magically thinking it so.  Such a belief -- just isn't so.  Positive attitude is a good thing, but wishing something so doesn't make it so, and believing it does may lead a person not to seek a doctor when they need one, for example.

I also recommend "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff," and the series of associated books.

    Best wishes!

  3. The Secret was by far the book that had the most impact with changing my life.  I think I was at an all time low, and needed something to believe in that would change my life.

I know it got a lot of hype because Oprah talked about it on her show, but was truly a good book.  I had an open mind to want to change, and the concept of the laws of attraction set me free.  I changed my mind, and it did set my life free.  I am living a life full of happiness everyday now!

    Thanks for reading!

  4. I generally do not like motivational books at all.  They try to reduce success and happiness to a formula that supposedly works for everyone.  I know life does not work that way.  But if you want to read one that is fairly short, and does have very good advice, try Pressure is a Privilege, by Billie Jean King.  It won't "change your life" in a big dramatic way, but it will give you some practical advice on how to approach life.

  5. To be quite honest, Joel Olsteen's - Live Your Best Life Now was very motivational for me.  It truly inspired me to be more positive and to think differently.  Because I am so busy and I no longer take the train to work it is harder for me to finish a book so I bought the audio version of his second book Become a Better You and it is awesome.  It gives you the tools you need to "become a better you".  It shows you how to look into yourself and to find those things within that you could improve on, it helps you with your relationships and shows you how to focus on your dreams.  I have read a whole list of motivational books like The Secret, Manifest Your Destiny by Dr. Wayne Dwyer and The Seat of The Soul by Gary Zukov, just to name a few and the message is pretty much the same but none of these books inspired or affected me the way Joel Olsteen's books have.  It is true, when you focus on the positive instead of the negative, good things happen......becoming more spiritual has helped me, praying and meditating has given me hope.

For example: after a divorce, I was left in terrible debt.  I couldn't pay my mortgage when the rate adjusted, therefore, foreclosure proceedings were taken against me.  I tossed and turned at night thinking the worst....for a long time, I was anxious and angry.  I cried a lot and felt like I was living my worst nightmare.  Anyway, someone gave me Joel Olsteen's book and I read it.  I also started listening to his surmon every Sunday.  While they all say the same thing, something about Joel Olsteen caught my attention.  Maybe, its the fact that he is about my age, or perhaps the manner in which he speaks, what ever it was...something shifted in me, I started thinking more positive again......this gave me the strenght to fight for my home....I got tired of having a pitty party for myself and I put it in God's hands.  I stopped worrying.......finally, after a year, and the intervention of Senator Jeff Klein, my bank is working with me.  My loan was restructured and the payment is managable again.  I saved myself from foreclosure.....and believe that Joel Olsteen's books helped me a great deal.

  6. Og Mandino's University of Success (Paperback)

    by Og Mandino

A friend gave me this book to read when I was in college (late 1980s) and I really enjoyed it. The book is made up of different essays on success and was easy to read. A lot of the lessons taught stuck with me and I can remember many quotes from this book.  This is the only self help book I've re-read or would recommend.

  7. alright before ' The Secret' there is a book which have been kept silence in the world of self development.. its seriously had changed my life and im on a better plane now and the good news is the book is just 50 pages . So read it online at http://mysweetluck.blogspot.com/

  8. The Secret, The Bible, The Torah, The Koran, or just watch Joel Olsteen.- i don't really like it when people write self-help books, because they don't always work, but they always make money off them, but Joel Olsteens smile is contagious, so he does make you feel hopeful and powerful....

or The Alchemist, that one is nice, or Siddartha, (both are novels, but i found them uplifting)

i should tell you though, that the best motivation comes from inside, and if you don't help yourself, no book in the world is going to help, turn to your friends and family for support, or to me if you need it, and be happy, you are a great person! =D

you could also try getting one of those applications where you get a new motivational quote on your homepage or email every day.... The Secret website also offers emails i think.
