The 1999 version with Johnny Depp, he added an excitement to it, the movie is a lot more modern than the others, and its Johnny Depp, so much talent (:

Wow, I didn't even realize Jeff Goldblum had done a version in the 80s - thanks for the heads up! I'll have to try to find that this fall!

I'd have to say it's actually a tie between the Disney cartoon and the Tim Burton/Johnny Depp movie. I love the movie for obvious reasons - Johnny, of course, Tim Burton, Christina Ricci, amazing art direction, and a great retelling of the original tale - different, but classic nevertheless.

But I grew up with the Disney cartoon - I mean, honestly, who didn't? It was my first exposure not only to The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, but also to ghost stories in general, and I've been hooked ever since.
