What is your favorite restaurant in downtown Victoria?

I am going to have one evening to spend on my business trip and I would like some suggestions for interesting and reasonably priced restaurants in downtown Victoria.

Villa Rosa is my favorite food - it is (no surprise) an Italian restaurant.  The beef Carpaccio is incredible as an appetizer.  It is reasonably priced.

For ambiance, though, go to Spinnaker's on the harbor, and go UPSTAIRS to the microbrewery and order the halibut-n-chips and sit out on the balcony if it's nice (this is a fantastic lunch place).

For late afternoon, high tea at the EMpress hotel is really neat!

Definitely Pagliacci's.  There is a good reason why it has been so successful since 1979.  Italian food.  Casual.  Jazz music.  Decent value.

In the summer, you might also try Il Terrazzo outside on the terrace.  More fancy and also excellent food.

Santiago's - 660 Oswego- 388-7376

Spanish Tapas Fusion.  Totally awesome food.  They have a great seafood menu with fabulous mussels.  Totally suggest this place.  Great prices, informal, comfortable surroundings.  Owner's a little pretentious, but its kind of amusing.

Im from Victoria...

I saw Cafe Mexico if you want Mexican.  The Reef if you want an interesting Caribbean dinner - Thats an awesome place to go!!  Mings for Chinese.  Japenese Village.  Luciano's for Italian.  The Warf street Grill for West Coast.  

Thats all I can think of.  Happy eatings...

Moxie's Classic Grill on Yates has amazing food for very reasonable prices. Check out the rack of lamb and wine flights. (They bring your 3 samplings of different wines so that you can compare - great way to get to know which wines appeal to you the most.)The staff there are some of the most professional in Victoria and it's a great looking room.

Villa Rosa is a TOTAL tourist trap.

I love Rebar for fresh, healthy meals.  Very affordable as well.  It's in Bastion Square (right across from the Eatons Center on Government Street).  Spinnakers makes a great walk from downtown (just go across the blue bridge and follow the path along the water) and they do fantastic West Coast pub-style foods (also very affordable).  Spinnakers is also a microbrewery.  Mole (on Pandora Street) is new (it opened after I left the city) but it's getting GREAT reviews.  If you want ethnic food, J.R. India Curry House is great for dinner and J&J Wonton Noodle House (a few blocks up Fort Street on Antique Row) is amazing for Chinese food (especially noodle soups).  For breakfast, walk up Fort Street (just past Quadra) and try The Blue Fox, a local's favorite.  It's tiny and packed, but the breakfasts are GREAT!

Actually I discovered this awhile back....SYN.  It is a martini bar, but it has a unbeleivable menu.
