  1. It depends on my mood.  Some days I like driving 100 mph, and some days i am in the mood to relax and i just like driving around 50-60 mph.

  2. 5-10 MPH above whatever the speed limit is.

  3. 50-55 mph

  4. Is it the speed or the acceleration? The a slow speed on a narrow twisty road could be just as fun as top speed on a long straight road. 10 points please... lol

  5. freeway 70

    side streets 40-45.

    residential 20-25

    parking lot 10-15

On the freeway I hit 70 and do my best to stay at that speed without causing an accident or scaring other motorists. The same with side street. I prefer driving the freeway since I can get the best gas mileage and keep my car in the best shape possible

  6. 65. It's the posted limit and I save on gas and citations by simply obeying the law. Who'd a thunk!

  7. this is a really dumb question and its pointles..

  8. 40-50mph. Not too fast...not too slow!

  9. I have been going 60 lately just because it seems like I get better gas mileage... but if that wasn't an issue 80.

  10. If there was no other traffic ( and I wouldn't be in danger of having my license being torn up right on the spot ), my favourite speed would be as fast as the car can go.

Back in the real world, it depends on my mood.  Sometimes I'm content to just put the car in the right lane, lock the cruise at the speed limit and be on my merry way.  Other times, let's just say that I'm breaking the speed limit and leave it at that...

  11. 7MPH

  12. I am a Drive-ability Engineer for one of the "Big Three". Part of my job is to run a car on the proving grounds and "put it through its paces. The cars that I drive are not electronically speed limited, and will go as fast as the forces of air friction and gravity will let them. My favorite speed would depend on the vehicle I'm driving. I don't like to take pickup trucks much over 120 mph, but a cushy luxury car rides nice around 140 mph or so. Muscle cars; just as fast as they will go. Another part of my job is to meet with other engineers <Design Responsible Engineer, Reliability Engineers etc...> and determine where to set the electronically limited speed of the vehicle <I can hear the groans and jeers>.

Off the proving grounds, I will travel between 75 - 85 mph on interstates, 60 - 70 mph on two lane highways. Unless I'm on my Harley; then it's cruise slow, enjoy the ride and let em pass.

The thing to keep in mind with driving a vehicle and finding your favorite speed is this. The way in which vehicle drive trains are engineered; there is a point, or speed at which everything runs in perfect balance; the car is said to achieve "dynamic stabilization". This is the speed in which the car will run most efficiently, and return the best ride. It may be 85 mph in a Lincoln Town Car, and 110 in a Mustang <it's almost never 55 mph for any vehicle, and usually resides at the higher end of the spectrum>.
