  1. The most memorable stories I was ever told came from a prof I had in college - Anatoly Leberman, University of Minnesota.  He's the smartest person I've ever met, and can tell the most beautiful, wonderful tales.  (I know this isn't quite what you were getting at...)  His versions of the tales popularized by the Brothers Grimm, and of Russia tales like those involving Baba Yaga have irreparably influenced how I tell and expect to be told stories.  ...good thing I'm a filmmaker. = )
