  1. I love giving clothes, perfumes, deodarants, makeup..etc. Basically anything a person would need to look very nice since or keep clean since I know some people are very poor and don't have the cash to buy those stuff so I donated stuff to Jamaica.

Also I will be touring Jamaica and performing my music in Jamaica this summer. That will mean alot to me since I will be sending positive messages through my music.

  2. I read with children age 6 to 11 on a one to one basis. Its reading for fun rather than part of the curriculum.

  3. i enjoy helping little kids and pre-teens. for example- i volunteered at a daddy daughter dance and it was a lot of fun.

  4. I am a volunteer firefighter at my local VFD

  5. I like soliciting volunteers. I truly believe that a good cause with lots of options for different task is a blessing for the people who do it, so I'm never shy about asking folks to help.

I like taking what people say they like or don't like to do and finding them a spot to serve. I did this with a pumpkin sale at my church. We had baked goods, and story-readers, and face painters, and kids who helped people find just the right pumpkin. The members had a good time; the church made money for its activities; people would bring their kids year after year; and we became known as the Pumpkin Church.

  6. I have done a variety of volunteer service.  The two things I have enjoyed most are:

    1) working with dogs at the humane society

    2) coordinating a program at my church called Family Promise.  It provides housing a meals for homeless famiies, who rotate between congregations & also provides them with parenting & financial information.

  7. Humane Society...between jobs you can love on the animals.

I volunteered once at a veterinary clinic. I'd have to say that by far that is the most awesome volunteer job ever!

  8. How you volunteer really depends on your schedule opening.  There are the consistent ones, and the one-day/two-day ones.

For example if you work part time, get out at 3pm and have all the afternoon free, you can take up some of those volunteering opportunities that require consistency.... like, be an after school tutor every day.  Or volunteer teacher assistant every Saturday morning.

The one day shots are good too...Like the tree-planting sessions Sat mornings, the help at the fair one afternoon, be a science fair judge, help design a scene for a play, help build a house with Habitats-for-Humanity one Sat morning, etc etc.

I've done most of the above, and it's hard to say which is best.  Most are good and what I do just depends on how much free time I'll have.

For the one-day ones, I'd probably vote for the Habitats for Humanity...house building, not the volunteer in their store (I did both).  The house building involved real work, a little dirty, people were friendly and chatty...met nice people as we painted a wall together :-)  Volunteering at fairs (if you can find one happening at a day you like) is also fun.

for the consistent commitment volunteering, I'd vote for a teacher assistant IN A CLASS YOU ENJOY.  For example, I love art and am an artist, so I really enjoyed being an assistant in a cartooning art class (I assisted in both children and teen classes...what group of people you prefer to work with can also narrow down your favorite volunteer job).

If you like guitar, you can assist there.  If you like soccer, be a soccer coach (my brothers did that and they LOVED it).

basically, volunteer in a class that teaches Your Hobby.

    Hope that helps!!!

  9. I love helping elderly people and special needs children.  Sometimes people just need a friend:)

  10. I love to help out within my community but what I l enjoy the most is the work I do through the Salvation Army. I research/find the grants that allow the Salvation Army to continue offering help to those in need. I really feel as though I am making a difference.

  11. Join a local Kiwanis Club. They offer a variety of opportunities to provide service to your community. Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.

You can find a local club at Kiwanis.org.
