  1. I am an avid snowmobiler. There are a ton of trails going thru some very scenic routes up here in Maine. For instance, going one mile down the road to my cousins via car turns into a 5 mile excursion through dense woods, open fields, road crossings, lush valleys, giant valleys, and over a few frozen lakes/rivers.

It's a ton of fun. My 70 year old grandfather has his own sled apart from mine. (I run a Ski-Doo MXZ 600) Anyone can find something fun about it.

The woodland lovers can take trails through woods and see Moose, Deer, anything..

The Daredevils can hit speeds well over 100 on frozen lakes **if the water is frozen deep enough**...just today, I hit 85 on a quick half mile run over the local lake.

The tricksters can get a smaller, thinner sled and take it on tight turns and many different angles of jumps.

If you ever get the chance, I do say, try it at least once. My suggestion would to use a 4-stroke Touring sled..4-strokes are usually a lot more quiet than 2's, don't get stuck as easy because they have longer trakes, and are very confortable to sit on for long periods of time. Although not as fast as high-performance like the MXZ and Yaha Viper, it gets the job done for early beginners.

  2. Though I love downhill skiing, and have been doing that my entire life, I've recently started getting into Nordic skate skiing.  It's so peaceful, fast, a great cardio workout, and no lift lines. I find my weekends are now divided 50/50 between Alpine and Nordic.

  3. Sitting in a hot tub on a snowy afternoon, drinking a large mug of coffee spiked with Jack Daniels AFTER I have skied or snowshoed all morning.

Why? Because at 3pm when I'm in my hot tub I watch all of the other skiers go by wishing they were me.
