  1. Me262

    Me163

    P-36

  2. Messerschmitt Bf-109 (I prefer the looks of the G models, although many sources say they should've stopped with the F)

Kawasaki Ki-61 (arrived too late, converted from radial to water-cooled inline, which the Japanese had too little experience with, but a fine aircraft nonetheless)

MiG-3 (my pick for the best-looking warbird; another late comer; the Mikoyan-Gurevich designers were told, 'Make it sleek, fast & tough" and they succeeded, practically under German guns & bombs)

  3. Dornier Do-335 Pfeil

    Grumman F-7f Tigercat

    Messerschmitt Me-263 Schwalbe

  4. 1. The one that bombed Hiroshima

    2. The one that bombed Nagasaki

    3. The one that bombed Hiroshima ;)

  5. F4F Wildcat (Fighters)

    P-51 Mustang (Fighters)

    B-24 Liberator (bombers)

  6. P-51

B-25 (the gunship version used in the Pacific)

    Me-262

  7. Two of my top three favorites ironically were almost never built.

de Havilland Mosquito  What didn't this aircraft do during the war.  I can only imagine the sound of this aircraft when both Merlins were in full song!

Focke-Wolf FW190  Kurt Tank's masterpiece.  Again a very versatile aircraft that was flown until the end of the war.

Last but not least the North American B-25 Mitchell.  Again an aircraft that served in all theaters.  I have read that the Mitchell was an "honest" aircraft and easy to fly.  My favorite is the solid nose gunship version.  Used to such deadly effect during the Pacific campaign.  Plus will be ever immortalized as the bomber chosen for the Doolitle Raid.

  8. 1. Spitfire.  It won the Battle of Britain (the Hurricanes did most of the work, but they would have been sitting ducks without the Spit).

2.deHavilland Mosquito.  It carried the same bomb load as a B-17 nearly twice as fast, fastest operational aircraft in WWII until 1944.

    3. North American Harvard/Texan/SNJ.  It brought the fighter pilots from Stearmans and Tiger Moths to Spitfires and Mustangs.  We would have lost the war without them.

  9. - Spitfire

  10. P38 Lightning

    A26 Invader

    P63 Black widow

  11. Spitfire

    Mosquito

    Mustang

  12. F4U Corsair

  13. P-47

    P-38

    B-26

  14. 1. Mustang

    2. Stuka

    3.Corsair

  15. Tempest Mk.V

    Spitfire XIV and later

    Il-2 Sturmovik

  16. Spitfire,mustang and japanese zero

  17. 262 or 109-G variants

  18. ...P51 Mustang (the fighter that helped win the war) The ME 109 was a great fighter till "it" came up against the P51... and the "Big" Boy in the sky's was the B17.

  19. My favourite is the RAF Submarine Spitfire because it's small and can get to around 1000kmp/h.

  20. First is the P-51 Mustang. Beautiful, deadly, and it had incredible reach. The Mustang's long range made deliveries to Berlin a lot safer. There are few aircraft of the era that can compare to it.

Second in the Supermarine Spitfire. Incredibly pretty, also very deadly, and it's history of design is phenomenal. That aircraft was raising h**l for a huge percentage of the war. It'll never be replaced.

Third would be the Me-262 Schwalbe. The first production jet fighter. It was the birth of an era. Despite belonging to "Them" it's an incredible aircraft. Thankfully, it didn't come  any sooner. I'm just very frustrated that none of such a historic aircraft survived to the present.

I have to provide honorable mention to the P-38 Lightning, B-17, B24, B-29, and DC-3, as those are all very noteworthy as well.
