Hey, post your favourite book and I'll try and find it when I go to the library tomorrow. I always seem to choose pretty dull books so I'm hoping some of you have some ideas. Thanks!

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time – Mark Haddon

Alone on a wide wide sea – Michael Morpurgo

Chinese Cinderella – Adeline Yen Mah

The Secret Life of Bees – Sue Monk Kidd

  8. A Child Called It

  9. The Haunting of Alaizabel Cray by Chris Wooding and then, of course, the classics: Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre, or Pride and Prejudice. I also thoroughly enjoyed The Host by Stephanie Meyer (less childish than her Twilight series, although I like those too) and anything by Agatha Christie or Tamora Pierce has my vote. Good luck!

Oh! Also (although you may have read them already) The Da Vinci Code, Angels and Demons, and Deception Point by Dan Brown (no matter how horribly ficticious they all are).

  10. One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

  11. The twilight saga by Stephenie Meyer.

    Twilight

    New moon

    Eclipse

    Breaking Dawn

These books are the best ever, seriously, read them!

  12. mine are the twilight series, and also the host by stephenie meyer. its very good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here are some of my favs:

    Olive's Ocean~Kevin Henkes

    The Host~Stephanie Meyer

    Marley and Me~John Grogan

  14. well my fave is twilight but idk if you'd like them or if you've already read them

but the stuff by nora roberts

    victoria laurie

    meg cabot

    stephen king

  15. Gone With the Wind

  16. The Five people you meet in Heaven by Mitch Album

  17. My all time favorite is Jurassic Park

  18. Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell is such a unique book! It's perfect for your age too...I read it in 7th grade (I'm 13 now but I was 12 then) but the themes are very mature and realistic. It has so many good themes and life lessons that are worth reading about. But it's not told in a parent-tells-kids-not-to-lie kind of way. It's all very subtle but it's so clear at the end what Scarlett has learned.

Now, whenever anyone asks me what the most life-changing thing I have done is, I tell them that it was reading Gone With the Wind! -laughs- The themes of determination, never giving up, and not being able to get everything you want are all very important and I think it'll be useful for the next school year - I'm going into high school! Yikes, lol.

The book takes place before, during, and after the Civil War and even with these historical details it's a really good book.  There's plenty of dialogue and Rhett will make you laugh. There's also humor too. While the passages about the war might be boring to some, I found them very interesting because I absorbed more history from this book than from my U.S. history book at school. :D

It's a classic and I think modern love stories like Twilight can't compare, no matter how popular they are. Teachers will love you for reading it because although it is long, it is a very rewarding book. I love Scarlett; she's so conceited and self-centered but she does things in a way that makes you admire her. It's not your typical dashing Prince Charming-meets-sweet-Cinderella story, which is one of the reasons why I think it's so good. Get the hardcover edition...You'll end up reading it over and over again. Plus, it's pretty long, but you'll get through it in no time.

    Other recommendations:

    The Notebook (Nicholas Sparks)

Animal Farm (George Orwell) loved this one! very thought-provoking and fun!

    The Pearl (John Steinbeck)

Bel Canto (Ann Patchett) this one's all right, wasn't satisfied with ending

The Lord of the Flies (William Golding) this one's pretty good

The Princess Bride (William Goldman) not a classic but a VERY VERY good action read...had to read it for school and loved it

The Clique series (Lisi Harrison) this is a girly, read-it-once-and-forget-about-it series so dunno if you'd like it...especially since you're older

Night (Elie Wiesel) sad book but very well-written

The Tale of Despereaux (Kate DiCamillo) more of an elementary-middle school book but good Newberry read

Hope that helps! :) There are so many choices out there...Good luck picking!

  19. The Stand by Stephen King

  20. Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer

    Misery by Stephen King

A Wrinkle In Time by Madeline L'engle

  21. Water for Elephants

    Farenheit 451

    The Dante Club

    Where the Heart Is

  22. Try Pawn of Prophecy by David Eddings, or Magician by Raymond E Feist. Both of these are great fantasy authors (for an adult audience) and those are the gateway novels into their (awesome) work. If you're looking for something different, try Jean M Auel's Clan of the Cave Bear. Di Morrisey's Tears of the Moon is also a great read, as well as most books by Terry Pratchett - The Truth, Guards Guards and Feet of Clay in particular.

  23. The Eye of the World by Robert Jordan.

This is the first book of the Wheel of Time, which is epic.  ^_^  It's probably the least original of the series, but Jordan really takes off into his own world after this.

Mistborn: The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson.

This is the first book of an amazing trilogy (The final book of which comes out this October).  I have yet to actually find someone who has read it and not loved it.  Sanderson isn't well known though, so it can be hard to find his work.

    The Gunslinger by Stephen King.

I guess anything by Stephen King is awesome, but I'm reading The Dark Tower right now, and I absolutely love it.  Again, this is the first book. ^^

  24. I suggest My point is...and I do have one by Ellen Degeneres (Funniest book i have ever read)

Meg by Steve Alten (A book like Jaws)

To kill a mockingbird by Harper Lee (Read it in school, not a bad book) and Carrie by Stephen King (made me laugh(Ihave a sick imagination ok lol))

  25. Needful Things and Misery by Stephen King.

  26. Chasing Redbird

    Gingerbread by Rachel Cohen

    or Roses are Red

  27. The House on the Borderland , The Ghost Pirates or The Night Land written by William Hope Hodgson .

    :0)

  28. You should definitely try Tamora Pierce books. There are a few series where all of her books are grouped but they share the same idea. Girls can kick butt! Or better yet, that females can do anything that men can. I'm not one of those people who are all for 'equal rights between men and women', that doesn't interest me, but these books are really worth while! Try them out.

There's the Song of the Lioness series, In the Realm of the Gods series, The Protector of the Small series, and Trickster's Choice duo. Also she's working on a some new books to go with her newest one, Terrier.
